A 10-year-old girl is facing criminal charges in South Carolina after allegedly saying she wanted to bring a gun to school and kill fellow students.

Police in Georgetown County, located north of Charleston, later searched the child's home and found weapons secured in a safe.

The child was charged in a juvenile summons with student threats.

A similar incident was reported on the same day, Wednesday, at another school in the same county.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said that the girl will face disciplinary action from the local school district for the incident.

The student is enrolled at Kensington Elementary School, which is located in the county seat of Georgetown. It is unclear if she had access to the weapons found at her home.

In a separate incident reported earlier in the same county earlier on Wednesday, police said that an 11-year-old girl at another elementary school was charged after threatening fellow students.

According to the sheriff's office, the girl reportedly "said she wanted to shoot up the school after an argument with a fellow student".

The 10-year-old student said: 'I am going to kill off all the bullies at this school' after she verbally fought with another student, according to a police report obtained by DailyMail.com.

The student wrote notes stating that she 'was done with this dumb school and some of the students in it.'

The student said, 'when she got older, she was going to kill off her bullies,' and began 'listing the students by name who she was going to kill,' the police report reads.

These messages were soon circulated among her classmates, including one who wrote on her Chromebook that the student 'is going to kill everybody'.

A teacher found out the Chromebook message and reported to the school's administration and police.

The investigator on the scene also found that the 10-year-old had made threats towards her fellow students before.

She reportedly told the officer that she didn't remember the notes and letters where threat messages were written.

A firearm was found at the child's home, but authorities mentioned that they were secured in a safe box locked in a cabinet.

Whether the kids she named were bullies or not, she's obviously a very unhappy child and needs help. I hope she can get it, and am glad someone intervened.

Agreed. This child is 10. IMO she should be given the appropriate mental health intervention needed, and the school needs to investigate if there has been bullying. I am surprised a child at only 10 would be arrested for that.
