Born Linda Sue Hanoian, she married Carl Gustke in 1967 in Los Angeles and in 1976 she married William P Peterson, also in LA and presumably having divorced her first husband.

Anyone know if the second husband might be related to an A. Peterson jr or the second? Or maybe used a different variation on the spelling of the last name?

Details of Disappearance

Peterson was last seen in Murray, Utah on September 16, 1978. Her husband stated she stopped by his workplace to tell him she was going to Kentucky, in order to visit friends. She then rode away in a station wagon with other friends.

Peterson apparently never arrived in Kentucky. She never got in touch with her husband or her mother, who lives in California, and has never been heard from again. Her husband reported her missing two weeks later, on September 30. Few details are available in Peterson's case.

Kentucky is a long way from Utah and a long car ride if you're pregnant, although she wasn't in the third trimester so maybe it wasn't that bad. I wonder if she and her husband were having any problems and I also wonder what the friends said about the trip. Surely the police questioned them. I wonder if she made it to Kentucky or what, because it isn't clear.

Yeah, the Find A Grave photo is not this Linda. I don’t want to post a full yearbook group image, but I think Linda’s height could be listed incorrectly. She appears to be shorter than most of the other females standing next to her, not what I’d think 5’8” looks like (JMO).

Doing a Google Search reveals very little. Only one page. I find one part of the Charley Project to be interesting: "Her husband stated she stopped by his workplace to tell him she was going to Kentucky, in order to visit friends. She then rode away in a station wagon with other friends."

Did the husband's co-workers corroborate this? Who were these 'friends' and did LE identify them? I can't find anything further.

Hanoian is an interesting maiden name, haven't seen that around before.

In the above newspaper article, does anyone else think it's extremely odd her mother offered a $500 reward for information? Why isn't her husband offering the reward??

This Utah website has a really good photo of Linda, but I can't seem to be able to copy it.

<<Linda Peterson was reported missing by her husband, William Peterson on September 9th, 1978. At that time Mr. Peterson told Murray Police Linda had left their home in a station wagon with friends. Mr. Peterson said Linda and friends were traveling to Kentucky in order to visit other friends and Mr. Peterson became worried when he didn’t hear from Linda. Linda was six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance and is described as a 29 year old white female, 5’8″ tall weighing about 130 pounds. Linda had hazel eyes and dark brown hair with an olive complexion. Linda has no known direct family members.>>

A couple of more thoughts...
1. It is really sad that Linda has no known direct family members. Her mother must have passed.

2. This information says Linda was 6 months pregnant, not 5.

3. This information says Linda left their home in a station wagon with friends. Other sources say she went to his workplace and told him she was going to Kentucky.

4. If Linda left with friends, wouldn't they have information of when she was last seen and where?
