I find it totally unbelievable that they haven’t searched backyards in the vicinity of evidence being found before now. And would they have had AW not talked.
I feel like they probably did, he just hid her well.

I bet it was for a better deal, to save themselves. It wasn't out of remorse or regret in my opinion.

Who kills their sweet little niece and disposes of her right outside their parents back door? Only the cruel, vile, heartless could do that, imo.

Exactly my thought, probably taking the death penalty off the table. Sincerely hope not!

I can’t imagine how the spot was missed.

Does anyone have a map of where she was taken from, to this site with other spots that were looked at? I know there was one before, and do we know the address of this investigation currently To do a map?

How could they have missed her? They must have used dogs at some point. She was soooo close to home and in area of familiarity to AW. He was wandering all around there.

Wow! Again, how could they have missed her?

Police are setting up tents in the backyard of a home not far from where Lizzy Shelley disappeared early Saturday night.

Maybe she was inside a home?

Logan City Police on Twitter

Logan City Police is investigating a very credible tip involving the location of “Lizzy” Shelly. Please understand the process takes time. Plan toward a live press release at 5:00 p.m. at Logan City Police Department 62 W 300 N Logan.
That fact that we are all waiting for the news is heartwarming to me. People care - and we share the bittersweet feelings of LE finding her.
Emotional time.

During PC the question was posed if familynhad spoken with AW. Iirc, the answer was ‘yes, but I don’t know the convo’, perhaps they were with him at that time. In fact they had to be to go to where they are now searching. If he’d told them yesterday, they would have went then. (Duh, I’m brain dead.)

LWOP is best, imo. Let him live in fear for the rest of his days. Let him live, feel, breathe the same fear Lizzie experienced, at his hands.

My guess is that she was very well concealed. We'll know soon.

Yeah, I doubt he told them out of guilt or remorse. They probably just offered him a beer.

I am not going to bash the search team or the 1st responders for missing her little body. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack. They each covered many miles and searched high and low and it is very easy to overlook a small hiding place that is camouflaged. My heart goes out to all of them.

Elizabeth Shelley's found has been found a quarter mile away from her home in Logan, according to Alex Whipple's attorney Shannon Demler.

The body was located near 500 W. and Center Street.

Whipple is Shelley's 21-year-old uncle. He was charged with the 5-year-old's murder on Wednesday.

Demler says that he has known Whipple for most of his life and has represented his family in the past. He told 2News that he presented Whipple with the facts and that's when he revealed where she was located.

When asked if Whipple had the intention to do this when he arrived at the Shelley home on Friday night, Demler says he doesn't believe so.

"He didn't have any reason to be involved in anything such as this," Demler said.
