Oh no! This is terrible! Did they not have advance warning that this kind of severe weather would be moving in? I hope all of these runners are rescued ASAP!

How can you lose 87 people on an organized run? It would be hard to believe that not even one of those people wore a smart watch or carried some thing else with GPS. In fact, I seem to remember that when you enter an organized race the number that you pin to your shirt has a tracker on it.

A full search and rescue team was deployed to Francis Peak, where conditions included snow 10 to 12 inches deep, 20-degree weather and wind speeds of 30 mph and swirling.

Initial reports indicate that some runners were experiencing hypothermia, though, the condition of those involved remains unknown.

What in the world? Why didn't the organizers cancel the race? The winter like weather approaching has been talked about here all week.

This is a really bad time of year to have events like this in Utah mountains. The weather can change quickly.

Fortunately, they were all found and hopefully the injuries are not bad.

Didn't something similar happen recently in China and some runners died?
