Identified! UT - Beaver Co., WhtFem UP12045, 18-40, on train, Jan'14 - Amber Brown

On her report it says estimated postmortem interval - days. Does this mean she was dead days before she was found?

Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks

My theory is that maybe her and another homeless person were riding the same car together (unbeknownst to the conductor), they got in a scuffle and in a rural area the perp threw her body on top of the train. I'm still perplexed why her back looks so incredibly sunburnt yet she was found with (or in?) a t-shirt.

CarlK, who knows a bit about these things, says it looks like a lividity pattern -- not burns but places where the blood pooled while she was lying atop the tank car.

Does the tattoo look fresh to you?

If the tattoo is fairly fresh then she could have had it done in Vegas. Either by a private person or a shop. I wonder if LE has checked with tattoo shops in LV.

Just wanted to let you all know that I messaged the mods for the two train-hopping forums mentioned earlier (hitching it and squattheplanet) to see if it's okay to reach out to their members about our UID. (I didn't mention WS.)

Will let you know if I hear anything!

I have a handful of tattoos and my boyfriend is pretty much covered from arms, hands, neck, back and chest.

It's difficult to say how old it is because the appearance of a tattoo really depends on the aftercare. If she took care of it really well, avoided sun or used sunscreen when it was exposed it could look great for a long time.

Generally, yellows and greens fade quickly. Red does fades much slower. With that being said the colors in her tattoo look equally bright to me.

The black doesn't look really dark to me. As bright as the colors are, I would expect the black to be darker. She might've had the color added to an existing outline. It's hard to say.

I think it's newish based on the yellow and green. IF she did get the tattoo in Vegas, it would be hard to track down the artist. I lived there for a long time, there are TONS of tattoo shops near the strip for all of the walk in tourist looking for walk in tattoo.

I cropped the photo and did a Google Images reverse search but nothing came up. All of the visually similar images were nothing similar due to the redness in her skin. I'll see if I can remove the redness and try again.

Carl did a great recon of the tattoo that took out the red. Maybe try that one? It's posted upthread.

I thought of that right after I posted, still nothing. Even though Carl's doesn't have all the redness in the skin, all of the similar images have a pinkish tone. Very few were of tattoos.

I've been searching variations of peace sign, peace, weed, marijuana, leaves, leaf all with tattoo and can't find anything close.

The only thing I found were two images that could've sparked the idea.

Maybe we can get her added to this FB page - Tattoos of the Unidentified

I sent a message to the FB page with a link to her Namus info. Hopefully they can add her.

I am surprised I can't find any news stories about our Doe. It could be a great help if maybe we could get Las Vegas Sun to post a story and maybe Carl's pics of what she probably looked like and her tattoo. I bet someone might recognize her.

I'm not an expert, but I've got a few tattoos myself. Just like art, tattoos are ever progressing. Now there's 3d tattoos, glow in the dark.. and different styles of ink. The peace sign was probably with "indian ink" brand. Their "black" was known to fade to almost a bluish color as it aged. The shading style of the peace sign suggests to me that it was done about 10-12 years ago. but the "rasta" pot leaves behind it is more recent. I'd say at least 4-6 years old. (that's if she could take care of it for the first few weeks.) But it's likely that she did take care of it because most shops provide you with your first tube of ointment.
Just my honest, and unprofessional opinion. :)

I agree 100%!

I just took a really good look at her tattoo (I've been avoiding her Namus page, she looks like someone I know [Who is alive and well] and it kind of freaks me out) and if it was done professionally it was done by a really bad artist.

Picture here, I guess it could be considered graphic

Anyways, so if you look closely at the edge of the leaves you'll notice that the leaves are not fully coloured in. On the tip of the red one that would have been on her right shoulder the line squiggles a bit (Which could possibly be explained if she had twitched) and the black lining of the green leaf on the left side has a significant thin spot near the tip.

Meanwhile the shading on the actual peace sign is beautiful, whoever did that had a LOT more skill than the artist who did the leaves, imho.

I'm going to photoshop her back to look normal and just have the peace sign, and if someone wants to reverse image search (I have no idea how to do that) then that'd be really cool with me. I'm wondering if she got the peace sign professionally and maybe showed it off on a facebook page.

I wonder if this could be Heather Moggy. She disappeared several years ago with a man who was involved in a weird religious cult. He's wanted in Ontario for sexual assault offenses. I've often wondered if she went to Utah.

There seems to be only one picture of Heather and it's over exposed, so it's hard to see what her teeth looked like.

What do you think?

Alright! I'm back with the image of just the peace sign, please don't make fun of me. I haven't done an image edit in over a year.

To me the tattoo doesn't look completed.

I was wondering if the gaps were because it's not finished. Room left for a highlight color or something. The gap between the peace sign and the tips of the leaves also seems weird.

If she was in the middle of having a complex tattoo done, that would tend to point away from trainhopping.

What makes you think she might have gone to Utah?

She does resemble the UID though and she's been gone long enough to have acquired the ink.

Couple of things I noticed....

If you look close up at her teeth she has a very strange top tooth, almost looks like an impacted baby tooth. Also a broken or decayed front tooth right next to that one. Also, the staining on all of her teeth seems to be from a smoker. IMO, though, I'm not too sure she's a meth user. The rest of her teeth don't really look too terrible, all things considered. I do believe she probably hasn't had dental care in a number of years.

Also, to me, her acne doesn't look meth-ish. I think it looks more like teen or early adult acne, small white-heads and such on her forehead. Again, this is just my opinion, formed by, unfortunately, seeing a lot of meth users in my area, both kids and adults.

I think she may have had an eyebrow piercing at one time, but who knows because she's got a whopper of a knot on that left eyebrow.

One other thing, on NAMUS, they identify one of the garments as "boxer type underwear". I disagree. I think they are little cotton shorts with the waistband rolled over. (Like Sofee brand, if anyone's heard of those). You can see the notch at the leg opening if you look at the shorts close up. Lots of girls wear those shorts rolled over at the waistband like that. I don't know many women over, say, 24 who would wear their shorts like that.

So, I'm gonna take a guess and say that she is 16-19 y/o. JMO.

That's a very good idea. I kind of have the feeling that even if she isn't local, she was probably hanging around for at least a few days and somebody might remember.

I can't even find out what LE unit investigated. I checked with a friend of mine who lives in that part of the world, and she hadn't seen anything in any of the area newspapers.

Las Vegas paper for sure, maybe SLC, St. George, Mesquite?
