Agreed! When I first posted her, I thought it would be an easy solve. I was worried when it seemed she might be homeless and/or an addict, that people would lose interest. So glad everyone stuck around.

And Astridxx made some new friends in the hobo community. ; )

ETA: And you got them interested in being "bored-a$$-wannabe-detectives"--and we always need more! Seriously.

Does this mean we can refer to ourselves as BAWDies ?:floorlaugh:

Couldn't resist...I've been keeping up since day one...just had nothing to bring to the table... :)

Just the simple fact you cared enough to read up on this is enough :)

And yes, I posted a link to our UID forum over at STP. Odin was asking how one becomes a BAWDie (LOL!!) -- I hope we get at least one new sleuth!!

the tat looked like it was done by an amateur with a professional gun, single needle or similar.. (I have a few of those shoddy pieces myself for comparison) It could be a decade old if the color was laid in deeply enough, or it could be as recent as a year or two old.

tattoos aren't hard to come by here, and even though she was homeless, she still could have had friends with places to crash, etc etc, who did tats. Anything is probable.

O/T: Heh. Now I understand where some of the disagreement about the tattoo's quality came from. Around here, anything that's done with a professional gun has already moved up into the "better quality" category...

IMO it wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't like a prison tattoo (now THOSE are crappy quality) LOL

Yeah.

There's a guy downtown who uses darning needles and pen ink. One step up from jabbing yourself with a ballpoint.

Do our friends at STP know?

I notified my Las Vegas media contact and the other paper I sent email to, so hopefully they'll follow up.

They do :) Not the same enthusiasm we have, but.. I got one like, so that's not too bad LOL

I hope we find out her name.

I think it's probably safe to say she isn't Samantha Gonzales. The person who runs her Facebook missing page just posted with a "please call home!" message.

Does Samantha Gonzales have a websleuths page? I did a search, but couldn't find one.

believe dreams can be a way to communicate and I dreamed last night that Jane Train's spirit visited each of us for just a few seconds and said " I am at peace now and thank you for trying to give me my name back"......

I agree that that there are probably a lot more than 8000 homeless people in Vegas.

That's still weird they showed up to take a DNA sample from her mom though... hopefully she's not UID somewhere.

May "Train Jane" RIP, now that she has a real name. Whatever demons she had in life, no longer haunt her. She doesn't have to run, huddle out of the cold, go hungry, or hide from anything anymore. And even if she didn't know everyone involved here today personally; I think she would have been proud to know that so many people really did care about her. To make sure she went home and make sure she got her name back. Even if it wasn't "us" or "our forum" who identified her; we all put in a lot of hours to make sure it happened. So don't be discouraged. I'm proud to work with all of you making a difference (however big or small) in the world. Thank you for doing what you do Websleuthers. I know I would want you guys working on my case if things ever ended up this way for me. Sincerely, Jen

Not discouraged at all! I'm thrilled she was identified, however it came about.

Right?! Just so everyone knows I have four tattoos: a lightning bolt the size of a quarter on my right ribcage, a pink star (that you'd all probably consider "crappy quality" but is marbled on purpose), a black outline of a heart on my lower left back and a purple hibiscus on my right front hip.

:D

I'm seriously thinking of turning my profile here to "private" and including all my stats and tats so that If I go "missing" my friends can find me..is that weird? lol

In fact I'm all for tracking devices on people. There could be a file on it when it's scanned with all our info. It would help find criminals and people in danger. I really stated thinking about it after my cousin went missing.
