She deserves a thread. I wonder if @othram would consider reaching out to LE to offer assistance. :)

Rest in peace, baby girl. :(

July 11, 1948 Sheriff Hyde was informed of a newly born baby girl had been found in the Bear River. The baby was found about 350 yards South and East of the Steel Bridge at Corinne, lying at the edge of the banks in the water. The body was taken to Felt Funeral Home, because of the state of the body it was impossible to do an Autopsy. The body could of been in the River at least a week or ten days.

We will try. Would love to help if possible.

There was a baby boy found about a year earlier about 100 miles away. UP90762 I wonder if there’s a connection?

ETA: Wait, another one on 1950 UP75929

EATA: Okay, this must be more common than i thought. Another in 1952. UP75442

Unfortunately not unusual, especially before reproductive rights. If a woman got pregnant in the 40s and 50s there were very limited options. She was trapped between family expectations (nobody could know she had a baby, adoption not an option) abortion being illegal and unsafe (backalley etc) and usually a lack of finances (father of baby abandoned her, she can't travel to get an abortion). Some felt they had no choice. I'd bet there are more cases that aren't in NAMUS.
