So, the bone was never lost, it was given to her mother. Wow! That surprised me!!

The patella had apparently sat inside the home of Kent’s parents until Det. Sgt. Shane Alexander, during a review of the department’s missing persons cases, noted a media report in which Kent’s mother, Belva, was interviewed.

“In the process of her interview, she pulled out a box that inside of it had a human patella,” Alexander said. “(She) said those were the remains of her daughter that she’s had.”

That was news to present day police, who now had the capability to seek DNA evidence from the remains.

I had read this case before but after going back through the case and early poster had it right on ..the what if's are staggering.....what are the chances Bundy is hanging out in the parking lot on that night? What are the chances with the play over no other people were in the parking lot(unless it was at intermission and the parents stayed for the next act). How many cases (slim to none) is evidence release and retained by the family and the cold case officer sees the interview and has the knack to retrieve the patella. Stranger than fiction but reality RIP to the victim with respect.
