This childs face is in a grimace, not a smile! jmo

(grimace: A facial contortion indicating displeasure, disgust, or pain.)
My oldest often smiles exactly like that. He thinks he's being so cute and funny, lol. The fake one he makes for school pictures looks even worse.

Prayers this beautiful little girl will be found safe.

I hope that it is a picture that she was trying to be funny in the way kids do all of the time but I have to say....I can't begin to imagine why that picture was chosen to put on the internet. We are supposed to be keeping an eye out for this little girl and we need a good picture of her....a natural picture.

What we don't know is if this meeting took place BEFORE or AFTER Destiny went missing.

Kind of gives me the creeps that they would be meeting at either time. If the meeting was after Destiny disappeared I wonder if that pervert is involved and he is trying to get information from the father as to how the search is going and what LE think? Maybe the pervert ran into Destiny's dad on purpose.

Wow...her website is up really fast (good job!!)....she disappeared Sunday evening, right?

She looks to me like a normal little girl....complete with her "green streaks" which were probably allowed for fun by her mom ...seems she was fiesty little thing when she didn't want to go to bed...maybe she pulled this kind of stunt before without suffering any serious consequences...only this time was different, she disappeared....

I wonder what is up with a pillow in the dumpster...could be something, could be nothing....who knows....

I will reserve my opinions until I hear more....seems the family is doing everything they can to find her. If they had something to hide you would think they would drag their feet a little during the investigation...I don't see that...I see a website up fast, reward money, turning over suspicious persons of interests.....distraught father, upset mother (going into premature labor)....

Prayers she will be found safe!!!

She was ready for bed when she stormed out of the house. Chances are she could have been carrying her pillow when she left. You just never know with kids.

I'll bet that green streak in her hair is that spray stuff like hair spray that was so popular with the teens a while back. It washes right out. We've had it here for my teen. Just a phase.

I think the photo is just another view of how Destiny truly looks - while leaning forward and smiling as hard as she can (in other words, I don't believe she was trying to look funny on purpose she was just very happy). It's also a very clear focused photo while the others are more blurred. The photo also give a very clear view of her smile and unique teeth - a feature that might more readily be remembered.

Cypros, in Destiny's case it said on our local news that she had bottle rot. So for her it was because she had bad teeth. I wasn't aware they also did it as a preventative measure.

They do do that in preventative dentistry now. Both of my granddaughters had their back teeth coated with something. They weren't capped but the dentist used some kind of clear coating that protects their teeth. It acts as a shield. There was nothing wrong with their teeth.

This sexual predator is looking like a strong suspect IMO. He obviously knows this family. I really hope if he has taken her she is still alive.

I was thinking about something I had read in one of the articles about Destiny. It said she and her family had been to a "drum circle" at Liberty Park earlier that evening. What I am wondering if it is possible that somebody at the park had noticed Destiny there and followed the family home and waited for a chance to snatch Destiny the next time she came out of the house. What does anyone think of this?

At this point, I just don't know what to think. Destiny's mother keeps referring to her in the past tense (which doesn't really mean anything, just an interesting note), the search in Tooele is happening simply because the people there want to feel like they're helping, not because of any leads, and the story just keeps changing.

This case just gets stranger and stranger. I haven't heard anything about the drum circle, but it's a good possibility.

Maybe she'll come home today. I sure hope so.

Hi RK...

It is a definate possibility...I googled "drum circle" and Liberty Park and got this article....albiet it is old (Apr 2005) but it shows the problems they've been having at Liberty Park with homeless people and drugs.....

Salt Lake City needs better activities at Liberty Park, a city councilwoman said after Sunday's deadly stabbing at Utah's largest municipal park.
The city has dumped millions of taxpayer dollars into Liberty Park improvements in the past five years -- all of which could be wasted if people are afraid to go there, Councilwoman Jill Remington Love said.

With the taxpayers' investment in mind, Love said the time has come for the city to begin holding more events and activities in the park, especially on Sunday afternoons when the drum circle convenes.

"We need to work on having counter-programming on the weekends so it's not just the drum circle that's drawing people on the weekends," Love said.

Participants in the drum circle who have talked to the Deseret Morning News say the sale and use of illegal drugs like marijuana, LSD and heroin are commonplace among those in the circle.

Sorry if this has been posted but I haven't seen it before....i.e. the report of a dog found buried.....

http://www.abc4.com/local_news/local_headlines/story.aspx?content_id=2F1E0916-ACD0-42C8-BAEE-75D568381D05

Also on Wednesday, a cell phone call led to a massive search by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office for Destiny. The caller told a dispatcher that a child matching Destiny Norton's description was walking alone in a ravine near Parley's Canyon.

Sheriffs deputies cleared the canyon of hikers and their dogs and began a search with their own K-9 team. They discovered newly disturbed dirt that appeared to be a grave. After digging into the hillside, they found a blanket covered in blood stains. Then they discovered the body of a dog, apparently buried there a short time earlier.

Deputies later traced the call to a woman who explained why she called. She told them she was driving along I-80 when her young son claimed to have spotted the girl walking alone.

She thought it might be information useful to investigators and called in with the possible tip. Deputies say she did exactly what people should do if they believe they might have a clue into the whereabouts of Destiny Norton

Joan, thank you very much for posting the articles you did. This is a very confusing case for sure. I hope Destiny is found soon and alive. They just said on the news if Destiny isn't found in the next few days they are going to drain the pond at Liberty Park to see if she is there.

Destiny's mother and grandmother were on Nancy Grace tonight (or should I say last night?) . The mother says the one year old and Destiny both wanted to sit in her lap and that there was no argument. Here's a link to the transcript:

Come on now mom...you are eight months pregnant...you probably don't even have enough lap for a 1 yr old :)

I agree, Jeana, my 16 y.o. daughter just doesn't understand why I won't let her sit on the porch and talk on the phone at 9 or 10 at night. Nope, no way! I tell her too much can happen in a split second and even at her age it just isn't safe to be on the porch with no one else around. I can't imagine letting a 5 y.o. go out even on the porch alone. Too many people can lure them to a car with a puppy or kitten or anything like that.

Hey less0305....tell your 16 yr old that she can sit out on the porch on one condition and talk on her phone....that you can go out with her and sit right beside her :D

I noticed that too. And why do you just trim the underneath of someone's hair? You either trim the ends or you cut the hair - and I would love someone to explain the reasoning behind saying you trimmed the "underneath" of her hair. Is that just how they phrase things in SLC or what?

Funny thing is (and what a huge coincidence) - I was exactly five years old when I took scissors and cut my own hair and my mom was really mad. I had to stand in the corner after I got my behind swatted. And my oldest daughter was three when she took scissors to her own hair - my youngest daughter was five when she did the same thing. I think it must be just a little girl thing. Am I alone here - or isn't this common for girls to cut their hair. Seems like I've heard other friends of mine say their daughters did this same thing.

You aren't alone. All three of my girl's cut their bangs and so did the granddaughter that I'm raising plus she cut some of her barbies hair. Regular little beauticians when they are little :banghead:
