But why bathe her then let her go back outside? That kind of defeats the purpose of the bath.

She was only going out into the grassy backyard. Heck, if her feet got a little dirty there is always a washcloth or she could always stick them in the bathroom sink or bathtub. If my kids had an early bath when they were young they would go out and run around the yard for a little while. I guess it just depends on how fussy you are. I always figured their feet were washable so it wasn't a big deal.

Before Destiny was found, I recall reading something that said she slept in the corner of the basement of her family's home. If her house is just like Gregerson's and the neighbor, Troy Cox's, then she had to sleep in a nasty, dirty, dingy cellar like the one in this picture. I wouldn't have wanted to go to bed either! That is sad. I hope her's was nicer.
It sounds as though Destiny's basement was finished. A news story reported (and I can't find the link, the KSL's eariler stories are not accessible, if it comes up later, I'll post it) that the crime lab technicians took a section of sheetrock out of the basement where Destiny was allowed to fingerpaint before the family repainted the walls. They were trying to make sure they had a full set of her fingerprints.

He confessed to killing her. So, how does that jive with the wife saying that she thinks that he is innocent. Also, if there is DNA linking him to the crime, can she still be that stupid?
The wife has since changed her mind about him, I hope she can manage to break all ties and get herself some help. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=387717

"In an interview with KSL Radio, Gregerson's wife, Cadie said she no longer support her husband and plans to file for divorce. "

"Cadie Gregerson, KSL Radio: "I wanted to pass out. I was sickened and I was actually, I was sitting down and I got off the couch and just huddled in the corner. I was hyperventilating. I just can't even describe the shock and hurt that this happened, that I was married to such a sick person." "

The part that bothers me is "the Norton family never identified Gregerson as a suspect." Now when in the heck does the family go around looking for suspects and identifying them for the police? The police are supposed to figure out who the suspects are. Destiny disappeared so quickly every neighbor within a block should have been a suspect.
I took that as an illustration on what little information anyone had about him even though he lived so close. I do think it could have been worded better.

Probably to let the child(ren) run down a little more energy. Anyone with children can tell you that betime can be a trial in and of itself!

That's why being bathed was the last thing that occured when I was a kid. Better to do it once and put them to bed than to do it early then have to do it all over again. Once you took your bath there was no going back outside unless the house was on fire.

"The neighbor charged with killing a 5-year-old girl planned the abduction and even wrote down his plans, court papers revealed Monday."

"Gregerson reportedly told the polygraph examiner, that he had been planning Destiny’s abduction “for some time” and that he “made written plans” for the crime."

I hope this creep does get the death penalty. I would bet that Destiny isn't the first little girl that he has molested. I doubt that he would start out killing the first girl that he ever molested. Maybe but it is doubtful. Maybe LE should talk to neighbors in other neighborhoods this creep has lived in.

I wonder what his wife is thinking now. I hope that she is thanking God that she is out of that mess. He probably would have eventially raped his own little girl.

I'll bet Destiny's dad would like about 10 minutes alone with this pervert.

I was just reading over on the "located......" forum that this guy had planned to grab Destiny for a while now. He had even written his plan down on paper.
On the night he grabbed her his dog was barking and he looked and saw Destiny in the back yard. He said he went and opened the gate and coaxed her into his yard. The rest we already know. He took a poly and right afterwards he admitted what he had done and wrote a confession. That is how LE got their warrent. They had searched the whole house before that and didn't find the plastic container in the basement because it was pushed way back or something like that. It says to me that they didn't do a very good search even though she was already dead. Just a horrible tragedy by a horrible person. I hope he gets the death penalty for what he did to Destiny and her family.

I'll bet he sexually assaulted her and killed her in the process or afterwards, rather after she was already dead, as he claims. He probably just said it was after her death thinking that it would be a lesser punishment, since he had been caught already.

As for the neighborhood....I used to live in that neighborhood when I was younger and not in very good financial shape. As an example of the kind of things that go on in that area, I once saw a man walking buck naked right down the sidewalk in broad daylight. Also, somebody was murdered right in the front yard across the street from me and his body laid there for several hours in the front yard in the snow before anybody even noticed. I was home at the time and I did not know...I was in the habit of going directly in the house and locking up the doors tight and curling up with my big mean doggy. I heard gunshots in that neighborhood quite often. Its not a good neighborhood at all.

My deepest sympathies to Destiny's family.

Actually, one of the articles I read said the ME stated that the assault did take place after she passed. I can't remember if the article was linked here or on another site. If I find it I will post it here.

Prayers for Destiny and her family.

"The State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Destiny's body on July 25th. Dr. Todd Grey observed injuries on her body consistant with post mortem vaginal penetration. The medical examiner concerned that Destiny's death was a homicide, and was consistent with smothering."

This quote is taken from an article that was posted in whole on another forum. The link to it is outdated. I believe it comes from the missing childrens website or something like that. When I clicked on the link provided by the person who posted this article to copy and paste the URL, it brought up the new cases on that page.

When they searched his house the first time he let them in...
they didn't have a warrant to search.
They could only walk around and look!
They could not move things and look under things etc...
until they had the search warrant... which is when they found her.

So sad just to look at those pictures. Destiny was just such a little girl. It makes me so sad and so angry at the same time. That was really nice for the bikers to all show up and also the Smart family.

I would like to have heard what the family spokesman for the killer's family said after the family visited the killer in jail. I bet this whole thing is just killing that family. I don't think I could have made the visit if it had been my son. I don't think that I could stand to even look at him just knowing what he did to that baby. It has to be giving the family nightmares.
