Ethan and his mother are new to the area, and over the past couple of weeks, she claimed the boy wandered off at least five times, but was found fairly quickly. Atkin said the story of the boy wandering off appears to be a ruse by Ethan's mother.

Ethan's stepfather, 31-year-old Nathan Sloop faces an aggravated homicide charge, along with child abuse, obstruction of justice, and desecration of a corpse charges.

Ethan's mother, 21-year-old Stephanie Sloop faces child abuse, obstruction of justice and desecration charges.

Wow. So, the mother isn't being charged with murder??

I think something along the lines of what's in the comments must be true

ETA: I'm not going to post it. It's better if people who don't want to know don't see it. For those who do want to know, the comments are on the krl articles.
I hear you! And I am still sick to death.

so based on the charges step father (just since 1 May... way to be a FATHER FIGURE DUDE!), he did the killing. Than together they obstructed justice, abused their child, and desecrated his little body.

There is not a hell hot enough for these cretins!

What has happened to our world? It's 2010 and we have people posing as humans destroying children "just because."

Honestly, what's happened to this little boy has broken my soul. Lord, have mercy.

Honestly, I say charge them BOTH with murder. This is sickening.

It was Mother's Day this weekend. This is a complete tragedy. I'm going to go home and hug my children (more) tonight and pray for little Ethan. Good night all and please stay safe.

I would have taken him. I wouldn't have cared about anything -- I would have just taken him and protected him, and loved him. We are living in a heartless, narcissistic age -- but then, maybe we always have been

After reading the info. posted by KaylynnCouture, I think moving/concealing the body must be the reason for that charge. I hope they bring everything possible against these people.

Bless your little heart sweet baby. You have no idea how many people cared and prayed for you today! Or, maybe you do. RIP.

Punishments are just not harsh enough for those that kill thier children, something needs to change, everyday over and over again, these babies are being killed by those who are supposed to protect them, when will it end???

I just don't understand how this happens, I know it happens, way too often, but a mother's natural instinct should be to protect her child. How could she let this happen?? This is just sick, he was only 4 years old, poor baby. There's a special spot in hell wating for these two. God bless you sweet Ethan, rest in peace.

Kelly,

You're right. I'm thinking it has something to do with them moving and concealing the body. However, someone posted statements that the reporters made about the "gory" crime scene and that makes me think he might have been dismembered.

Just as an FYI- Now that the desecration charge is on the table, any attempt of them using the whole "it was an accident" motive won't fly in court. Thankfully.

What's even more special is they aren't even charging her with murder..just him. God, that pisses me off so much.

At the presser they said they are charging her with homicide

How could they do this to a baby???

Ok, good. That makes me feel better. The news just said that she was being charged with child abuse, desecration of a corpse, and obstruction of justice..but it didn't mention homicide on her. Just the stepfather.
