Of course she's going to try that as a defense. It's all she's got. The question remains if this is ever going to make it to jury. I see her trying to get a reduced sentence in exchange for her testimony to help convict NS. IMO the DA would be taking quite a risk in doing so. It's obvious she's a liar, so a conviction would no doubt come due primarily to NS's own words and the physical evidence. If anything, her pattern of lies would murk up the case and could even cause confusion on the jury's part as to what really happened to Ethan. IANAL, but I see no advantage in cutting any deals with her.

The article about the ex-wife of NS fearing for her life and her child's life helps the wedding page of SS and NS make even more sense. I am firmly convinced now that some of the things that were said were definite digs at the exes as some on here have already claimed.

Also, it definitely shows the frame of mind of NS saying his child was kidnapped when in fact, the ex was keeping her away to protect her. This is the way the mind of a narcissist or someone who is delusional works. It's always someone else's fault. They are always the victim.

The biological father of Ethan Stacy described his ex-wife Stephanie Sloop as "unstable" and said he feared she would take their son and he'd never see him again.

The former wife of Nathan Sloop described him as mentally unstable, violent, and having multiple personalities — including one personality who becomes extremely angry when criticized. She said she feared for her life and for her daughter's life.

The divorce documents include transcripts of profanity-laced tirades that Nathan Sloop — who prosecutors plan to charge Friday with the murder of his stepson — left in a series of voice mail messages for his former wife, Jennifer Freeman, one day in September.

"I only wish now that I could (expletive) take you out of (their daughter's) life. I am going to do every (expletive) thing possible within my power to take you the (expletive) out of her life (expletive). I don't give a (expletive) if I gotta spend the rest of my (expletive) life in prison. (Expletive) you. I'm coming after your (expletive) throat," he said in one voice mail message.

In another, Nathan Sloop allegedly threatened to kill Freeman's boyfriend "Mike," and then added, "You'll be next in line."

Nathan Sloop left five voice mail messages in less than 20 minutes and six within 90 minutes, according to the court documents.

"He hugs my (expletive) daughter, he comes near my (expletive) daughter, he is (expletive) done. Over," one message said.

Nathan Sloop and Freeman had one daughter together. She turns 6 later this month. The daughter, who was born in Utah

I'm afraid even the GP with guards looking the other way would not be enough punishment for these two monsters. Only pure slow torture until they were both dead would be justice, but that is not legal in this country.

I am having a real hard time reading this thread tonight. I went over to facebook and looked at the pics of Ethan with his siblings and it just tears me up. Those two are victims right along with Ethan, the pain they must be feeling. They are probably wanting to cling to their father and hold onto to everything Ethan tightly. I can't imagine losing one of my siblings at 26, let alone at their ages. Tonight I am gonna make sure to remember them in my prayers, along with Joe & Ethan.

Let me see if I can figure out which "personality" emerged to murder a small boy --- was it the coward, the demon, the psychopath, the miscreant, the mental midget, or the president of the "biggest loser ever" club -- no -- wait, I've got it -- it was all of them. Now they can "all" go to jail for never pursuing the necessary treatment responsible people get when they are mentally ill. But somehow, I don't think mental illness was behind this henious act -- no -- it was sheer, unadulterated evil, and it is as plain to see as the sun rising on a summer's day.

Thought I would bring the time line forward for the members and guests - not sure we can believe much of what Stephanie has told.
Ethan's slow deterioration time-line of hell! 4th revision.

May 1st - Sunday
Ethan leaves dad and flies to Utah to be with mom Stephanie

May 4th - Tuesday
First of many cell phone pictures mom takes of abuse over the days. Picture of Ethan with large, notable, area of swelling to jaw and face.

May5th - Wednesday
Nate's mom visits - says all is fine
Nate takes Ethan in bedroom to punish and beats child around head area; face begins to swell.
Ethan's father, Joe Stacey, told his son was unavailable to talk as he had done in prior days.

Between May 5 and May 8
Ethan "exhibits signs and symptoms of a possible head injury or brain swelling due to a head injury,"

"Stephanie Sloop told police Tuesday while being interviewed about her son's death. Ethan did not eat well, was vomiting, lethargic and exhibited non-responsive behavior, according to the reports."

May 6th - Thursday
Ethan locked in bedroom while Stephanie and Nate marry; door knob taken off. Nate and Stephanie leave child in bedroom due to swelling and bruises.

Over the next several days, Ethan got progressively ill, police said Stephanie Sloop told detectives. He was vomiting, running a fever and would not eat. The couple forced the boy to drink two 16 oz. bottles of water, a bottle of KoolAid and orange juice in a two-hour period, police wrote in the jail statement. (from warrant of probable cause). Motrin and Benadryl were given for the swelling and Nate gave Benadryl so Ethan would stay quiet.

Thurs May 6 or Fri May 7: Neighbor recalls seeing Stephanie walking away from the apartment seemingly agitated and stopping to look back at the apartment several times. A short time later Nathan followed her, put his hands on her face in a manner leading the neighbor to believe he was asking she please listen to him....


May 7th - Friday
Nate calls Stephanie to inform her Ethan is badly burned on hands, feet, and legs up to buttox area from running water in bath (claims Ethan turned on hot water). Stephanie finds human feces in child's mouth. Stephanie brushes Ethan's teeth until his gums bleed.

May 8th - Saturday
Child continues to suffer from scald burns and head injuries. Blood and vomit found in child's bed. Stephanie needs to wash bed sheets.

'Stephanie told us that on 05/08/2010 Ethan smeared his feces on the bathroom wall and on Nate."

May 9th - Sunday (Mother's Day)
Ethan is found dead in bed

Ethan wrapped in garbage bags with tape, brought to Powder Mountain area for burial. Hammer used to disfigure facial features and teeth of Ethan. Stephanie buys 2 cans lighter fluid to destroy evidence.

May 10th (Monday)
Late in day Stephanie reports child missing Make up story about child leaving the apt. 5x in in last 10 days in middle of night.

May 11th (Tuesday)
LE finds child buried - teeth and face smashed in with hammer, lighter fluid used to destroy evidence.

This is what those did to our baby Ethan. I can't believe it. What am i supposed to say to my children? I can't believe this happen. All i can think about is Ethan was alone and no one could reach to him. He couldn't reach out to us. He probably cried for Joe and no one could hear him. Ethan did want to go to Stephanie's he didn't even want to talk to her on the phone. To Stephanie i have always hated you. I hope you rot in hell. If fact I wish Joe and I could slowly kill you. I wish i could beat your head in with a hammer just like you let your so called man do to Ethan. I am just in shock.

I talked to Joe tonight and he wants to thank everyone for all their support! Right now its still to hard for Joe to talk, but he is getting by. Everyone has giving so much support to Joe and our children. Thats so much.

Is this the ex that Joe had a restraining order against?

Okay.That picture really put me in time out. What a beautiful,lovely little boy.I would have walked to from N.C. to pick him up and walked all the way home with him on my back.I pray and ask God to help us all. I have never so hard in my life prayed for justice. I also ask for peace in all our hearts for being committed to never turning away from trying to help.Thank You Websleuths.

Sorry but I call bull****. True dissociative identity disorder is rare. I think he may have claimed this, but (as with SS "diabetic coma") I'll believe it when an unbiased professional thoroughly evaluates him and states unequivocally that is his diagnosis. And I can tell you that a forensic mental health eval will take some time; if they base it upon a only few weeks of interviews and observation, I won't buy it then either. My father worked for the Federal prison hospital (now retired); they put inmates under intense psychiatric evaluation and observation for a minimum of 90 days. If someone was simply playing psychotic, it was damned hard for them to keep it up 24/7 for so long. Eventually they did slip up.

FWIW NS had named his different sides of who he was so he could blame his bad behavior on those so called personalities.

I wouldn't be surprise if the information that he was diagnosed with this~~didn't come straight from his mouth to his family's ears. JMHO

respectfully snipped. I don't recall reading it was NS who named his 'dark sides'. Can someone redirect me to the post or link where it mentions NS giving his 'dark sides' various names. (Let's face it, they are his dark sides not various personalities so I am calling them what they are. Good grief, what happened to the days when guys named their cars and not their 'dark sides' - what a freak NS is! )

SS half brother posted the pics I previously posted. He says he is ashamed to admit he is related and that his nephew was a great and happy child who will be missed. So many are hurting over this senseless tragedy.

I am not saying this guy is legally crazy...but he does sound crazy to me. You can't not be crazy and do what he did...it is possible to be evil AND crazy...evil should win out in the courtroom and I think it will...but I think he has to be crazy...normal just doesn't do this, IMO

With all due respect, Freeman is not a medical doctor, she is his ex wife. Is there any medical reports, doctors info to support this dx of multiple personality disorder?

I'm having a really hard time with the "sybil" theory here.... and if that is true why NS wasn't locked up in an instution with soft walls and a white coat. and why SOMEONE in his life would not have sought a court order for him to get medical treatment if he was known to be such a danger.

I'm taking the 'family, or former family medical dx's' with a grain of salt until I see some documentation with someone with the credentials to make those statements.
