I know I'm late, but due to a new baby I haven't been able to get on here much. I was just made aware of this case today.

Maybe it's because I'm a mom to a little boy close to Ethan's age, but man. I've cried more over this case than any case I've ever followed. Real, hard tears.

What was SS' state of mind during the week she was "documenting"? Someone referenced her FB postings. I know we can't post them verbatim, but can I have a general account?

I know the concept of folie a deux. I immediately wondered if perhaps this case was a case of that, but I honestly don't think (not that I'm inferring others did) that it's a mitigating mental phenomenon. I think actual cases of folie a deux are very rare--I think that in cases like this, the "love" mom feels for the SO/Fiance/Husband overrides the maternal instinct to protect. All of a sudden, she gets that rush of lust/love/infatuation and in those moments/hours/weeks/months she is so enamored with the man that she's almost turned on by what I believe is some men's biological instinct to kill the young of another.

We see it so often. The child playing second fiddle to the new boyfriend. Mom holding resentment about the breakup/divorce and taking it out on the "product" of that 50/50 union. That's all been said over and over, but in this case she hasn't come crashing back to reality yet. Or maybe that started today. A few weeks of demeaning treatment while separated from Mr. Wonderful will get that going.

Sick, sick, sick. I thought after Caylee and Sandra that I felt the pinnacle of pain over these cases, but I guess that's over.

Were these two monsters in the courtroom at the same time? Did either of them even look at the other?

Will we see pictures of them at all from today?

I hate to admit it, but I am not only repulsed, but sickly fascinated by them. Like when I would look at insects under a magnifying glass when I was a little girl.

I want to know how two 'people' can become what they have become, because I can't even begin to understand them.

What are the chances of two people being capable of such cruel, depraved actions coming together?
How can Evil look so normal?
Would either of them be capable of this on their own?

I just don't understand.

Me too in an odd way, but you know the old saying birds of a feather flock together. SS and NS must have beelined for each other, if not the magnetic poles would have ensured they hooked up. But why?

Why do they get their kicks as they do?

You know, they might be an interesting speciman for the same psych doctor who has half of John Wayne Gacy's brain. Interesting but unusual lady, Dr. Helen Morrison author of My Life Among the Serial Killers. She or perhaps her predacesor (sp?) could have half a male and half a female brain for sexually deviant child killer(s)- in this case if they are convicted. I'll say killers because no doubt had they not been caught they'd likely be 'repeat offenders'.

http://twitter.com/BenWinslow

BW tweets that the sloops are being charged under 'shelby's law' and it is the FIRST TIME this law has ever been used.

he also tweets further down that after going to the prosecutor's office Nathan sloop's lawyer went to the jail to see him

he also says that people are starting to gather with signs outside of the courtroom
That makes me VERY nervous.

Nathan Sloop mouthed "I love you" to his mom as he was led out. Stephanie cried.

Maybe Stephanie cried cause she thought that she was the only woman in the world Nathan loved.:boohoo:

Too bad she never got it that it isn't about her, never was an never will be. :loser:

The above pics from the standard.....Stepanie looks a bit inconvenienced. Nathan looks downright pissed off and mama Sloop looks like there is nobody home. Something about that lady is very disturbing to me. JMO, IMO. MOO. etc etc.

I think of Ethan in little moments when my daughter has a paper cut (just yesterday she was crying) or if she is cold and I get her a blanket while she is watching cartoons and sitting on the couch... this little moments bring out such caring and compassion for my children. I cannot imagine anyone standing by and letting someone harm them. I tell you right now as god as my witness I would give my life to protect my children from harm. There is nothing about SS and her actions that will EVER be understood. Do not try- it is like trying to reason with madness.
I waffle about the DP. Should SS have life in prison to think about what she has done? Honestly, I don't think she will think of Ethan other than how this has affected HER. Send her to her death and let it be done with. If she was going to care about what happened, she would have stopped it at any cost.

The information in the charging documents does not appear to deviate from previous statements in terms of the alleged crimes. Among the seven aggravating factors in the murder charge is that "the actor committed or attempted to commit aggravated sexual abuse of a child or child abuse."

According to Utah law, aggravated sexual abuse of a child includes touching the "buttocks, or genitalia of any child ... with intent to cause substantial emotional or bodily pain ..."

Ethan never should have been allowed to go. Never. And NS crying and saying that he loved his Mom? He doesn't know what the word means.
