UT - Justice Sieverts, 1, drowned in bathtub, West Valley, 24 July 2006

A 10-month old girl was in extremely critical condition after nearly drowning in a bath tub Monday night.

Paramedics were called to a West Valley apartment complex after the girl was pulled from the tub.

Police say the child was not breathing and not conscious when taken to the hospital.

Police did not say how long the child was underwater before she was pulled out of the tub.

A jury returned a not guilty verdict in the case of a West Valley City man charged with negligent homicide in connection with the drowning death of his daughter in a bathtub.

James Sieverts, 21, was charged with class A misdemeanor negligent homicide after 1-year-old Justice Angel Murida Sieverts was found face down in about eight inches of water...

A teenage girl... had also been charged with the same crime, but a judge dismissed the charge against her on Sept. 11, 2006.
