Human trafficking suspected in case of Utah teen missing since July
From the article:
Human trafficking experts on the ground in Salt Lake said there is evidence that she may be being trafficked.

Kandis Harris hasn't contacted her family in nearly three months.

Diane Carpenter is Kandis’ grandmother. She said Kandis has been missing since July 15, when she left a youth treatment facility in Salt Lake City.

“In this case, there are signs that Kandis is possibly being trafficked,” said Candace Rivera, the CEO and founder of Exitus, an anti-human trafficking organization.

"If Kandis is still here, which we're led to believe she is, she's probably just being hidden very well."

Another poor grandmom worrying sick.

It gets to me when these young people just up and walk out of a treatment facility. It appears it may have been court mandated for Kandis to be impatient at Odyssey House in Salt Lake City.

Please let this young girl be found and get the help she surely needs.

Human trafficking experts on the ground in Salt Lake said there is evidence that she may be being trafficked.

"The statistic is, 16 times a day they're sexually violated, if they're being exploited," said Candace Rivera, founder and CEO of Exitus, an anti-human-trafficking organization.

Rivera and her teams need help, and Kandis' family needs more help. They ask the public to share Kandis' picture, keep an eye out for her and other exploitations.

Rivera said the best thing you can do to help is educate yourself and understand what modern human trafficking really looks like.

"It happens in our backyards," she said. "It's happening in Utah, and actually quite a bit in Salt Lake City."

Missing teen's family speaks out as search enters 6th month | KSL.com
[...]

Her grandmother spoke with KSL-TV in hopes that the public can help find Kandis Harris.

Kandis left the Odyssey Treatment Facility in Salt Lake City on July 15 and has not been seen or heard from since. Her family said it's not like her to go dark on social media and to not call them. They're worried that someone might have taken advantage of the teenager in her vulnerable state.

[...]

"There's so many things out there now that is so scary," she said. "You hear a body being found, and it's like, 'Oh my gosh, you know, is this going to be Kandis?' I don't know."

[...]

Harris was struggling with a drug addiction and was ordered to stay in a treatment facility by a judge after run-ins with the law.

[...]

"It doesn't matter who it is, we're going to look at any option, any avenue when we get a case to see what could be there," said Salt Lake police spokesman Michael Ruff.

Ruff said the department hasn't ruled out human trafficking, and they have a detective who does undercover work on this case.

"If those leads are there, we'll follow them," he said.

And they need more leads, which is why they're asking the public for help.

[...]

Oh no, no, no.

Going to get at the guy I posted about above. He's got people from all over the country faces on his community page.

Definitely get back for Kandis.

Missing for a year.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah) – One year ago, Kandis Harris walked away from the Odyssey House and vanished.

July 15 marks the one-year anniversary of her disappearance. It’s been a long year for her grandmother who now belongs to a club no one wants to be part of.

“It’s that feeling that nobody can describe, the way a family feels when you have a loved one missing,” said Diane Carpenter. “You’re on a roller coaster of emotions. You don’t know if they are alive. Are they still out there? are they okay?”
