"On Saturday, "Karen was recorded by her husband as saying she was going to kill herself and her daughters. Karen's husband witnessed Karen attempt to smother both girls with a pillow until he intervened. She then locked herself in a room with the two girls and (choked) them with her hands, causing visible injury to their necks," according to a police affidavit filed in 2nd District Court.


Her husband pried her hands from the older daughter's neck, police said. Butterfield then started choking the younger daughter before the husband freed the girl from her grasp as well, according to the affidavit."

This is one of the few times where I'm thinking in my head that I hope the Dad just takes the kids and runs! In reality, I hope he is given full custody of them while the mother is in jail and then moves safely away and never tells her where. She tried to murder the children to "prove a point." I hope she gets the mental health help she needs.

What an experience for these poor children. They'll want to know where their mother is, especially the two-year-old who won't remember this... Poor Dad to be put in this situation. Bless him for being there though.

"In March, police say they were called to her home when she and her husband got into a fight and she "had a knife out." During the incident, Butterfield told police she stuck the knife into the fridge. Police saw "damage consistent" with that on the fridge.

In connection to that incident, Butterfield pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, an infraction amended from a class B misdemeanor. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation.

She is a murderer looking for a victim. Why was she ever given custody of those precious babies? Sounds like very, very deep anger issues. You cannot say you love ANYONE and treat them like that! It would not give her pause to complete what she began. She is escalating with her violence, and those little girls will be her next victims if she is allowed to be alone with them, I fear. MOO

Makes me ill!!!

I told myself I would not click on any more crimes involving little ones. It is so heartbreaking. I cannot believe how some parents behave toward and in front of their little children. God help us!
