But the judge disagreed and ordered that Kouri remain incarcerated. Her next court appearance in June 22.
Eric’s sister, Amy Richins, shared an emotional statement with the court about the impact this case has taken on her family.

Pleading with the judge not to release Kouri, Amy said she fears for her life and for the lives of the couple’s sons.
“I never knew evil like this existed,” Amy said, adding that Kori is “devoid of moral sensibility,” and there’s no telling what she would do if she was released. “Our family has already suffered enough.”
During the hearing, prosecutors also called three witnesses – a Summit County Sheriff’s detective, a private investigator, and a financial forensics expert.

Chris Kotrodimos, a private investigator, testified about the time period when Kouri unlocked her phone at 3:07 a.m. on March 4, 2022, and when she called 911 at 3:22 a.m. reporting her husband’s death. Kotrodimos said there was data deleted from the device.
Brooke Karrington, who specializes in financial forensics, testified about Kouri’s financial difficulties and the debt she had incurred through her real estate business. Karrington said Kouri received $1.3 million in life insurance payouts after Eric’s death.
