I am hoping the jurors aren't buying into what Lewis is trying to do. I mean, which is it? Carmen is unreliable former addict but also savvy enough to make up an elaborate story about her former employer to save herself in drug court or Carmen is a former addict with some memory issues who tried to do the right thing and tell the feds what she could remember? If I'm a juror, I'm seeing her as the second one. JMO

Lewis: “I’m sorry this is so confusing” is nasty, IMO. ESPECIALLY given the multiple times she’s forced Carmen to talk about memory issues, “brain fried on drugs”, anxiety, learning disability. Etc.

I cannot wait for redirect. I am bored by Lewis and her continued attempts at a gotcha moment with Carmen.

Lewis asks about the point in the May 10 police interview where Carmen said the money would be in the closet and that's where she would leave the pills. Judge tells Lewis she needs to be much more careful and specific in how she asks the questions.

Agree. This is my main issue with the defense’s strategy.

Which one is it? The THC gummies were laced with fentanyl? Or ER tried to acquire fentanyl in his own? LE didn’t do due diligence testing everything? Or LE purposefully targeted KR?

I guess they’re throwing anything and everything at the wall to see what sticks, but it makes it look like that’s all they have. MOO

This is a seasoned attorney. Judge keeps having to give her guardrails.

I resent what KR put this witness in the middle of, prior to ER's death, and now again at trial.

This is a person with a good heart with a rough past. She's not on trial.

And honestly, I don't think she could have been charged for supplying the drugs which killed ER. For one, she didn't know it was going to him, and two, she didn't know he'd be overdosed on it. Technicalities aside, KR alone had the murderous plot.

I hope she loses her civil freedoms for life because of it.

I find the witness to be credible.

Defense attempting to cause confusion. Talking in circles.

Carmen is doing absolutely GREAT today! MOO

Lewis asks to approach the judge. After the sidebar, Lewis apologizes that this has been so confusing. Lewis continues her questioning about the conversation Carmen had with investigator Whistler about the time Carmen bought drugs from Susan Kohler. Lewis reading through part of the transcript between Carmen and Whistler.

The multiple times the judge has said he’s been confused by the questions AND how flustered Lewis is getting with the state’s objections when there’s been very few are impactful. MOO

Lewis keeps reading through the transcript and Bloodworth objects. Lewis says the story Carmen told the investigators in jail does not match what she said on the stand. Carmen says it was a lot to take in and process. Lewis says Carmen's memory one year after the fact (when she spoke with investigators) was probably better than it is today (four years after the fact). Carmen says that is correct.

Did yall hear KR on the mic just now?! I’m almost positive she said, “She looks unprofessional”

Assuming she’s talking about CL? Defense needs to wrap it up or Lewis and KR may end up losing it. MOO

ETA: around 9:11 MT when CL is reentering the courtroom and court goes back on record.
Back to this.

Maybe KR was talking about Lewis. She’s been looking more at her than Carmen today. MOO

9:34 a.m. Lewis now asks about the first drug exchange with Robert Crozier. Lewis asks about the time Kouri asked for the Michael Jackson drug. Carmen had to Google it and learned it was propofol. Lewis asks if it can be bought on the street. Carmen isn’t sure – says she doesn’t go around asking for it.

Lewis asks Carmen if she was holding back pills from Crozier for herself. She says no. Lewis asks Carmen if she asked Crozier for Roxy30s. Carmen says she asked for blues. Carmen testifies that she never asked Crozier for fentanyl. Lewis tells Carmen that she told the federal investigator that Kouri never asked her for fentanyl. Carmen doesn't recall.
