According to his family, he attempted to hike the peak back in June and didn’t make it to the top so returned to try it again. His goal is to climb the highest peak in each state, Utah marks number 8.

He's experienced,” Wright said. “He apparently has a lot of resources with him as far as gear and food. Of course, with it getting so cold at night, we want to make sure that we get as many resources out as quick as possible to try to locate him.”

Snow has already fallen up high and with an impending storm coming in late tonight and Saturday, they’re hoping to find him soon.

I'm finding it difficult to see what the weather has been this past week, but the forecast is for freezing temps overnight during the next 5 days or so. I pray that Kyle merely got lost and it sounds like his survival skills are way above the norm, so we'll just try to hold good thoughts. Hopefully the S & R folks will find him or he'll walk out on his own.

I have no idea why, but the missing hikers/climbers really grab at me. I pray he’s a success story, I just fear an accident. Let’s hope not. JMO

This is so sad. I was reading along and hoping for a positive outcome. Glad he was found, but disheartening to learn of another hiker gone. There are so many threads here like this. Hopefully he was living his best life during this last hike. RIP Kyle.
