''Both Michael Bown, 23, and Carolyn Kingston, 33, were shot and killed around 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 2, 1971, at Natters' Market near 3000 South and 700 East in Salt Lake.
Detective Ben Pender said Kingston was working as a cashier when a suspect entered the store and attempted to rob the store. During the robbery, Bown interrupted the robbery attempt and was shot and killed by the suspect.
Kingston was then taken to the back of the store and also shot by the suspect. Kingston was hospitalized but died two years due to her injuries after countless surgeries and attempts at recovery.''
''The suspect attempted to shoot a third victim, another delivery man, but the gun did not discharge. The third victim was able to provide a "very good" description of the suspect, according to Detective Pender, but the suspect remains at large.''
''Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office released a composite sketch of the suspect. The suspect, at the time, was described by witnesses as slender and about 5'7" in height. He had black curly hair and was clean shaven wearing a dark colored knit t-shirt and dark colored pants.''
