MISSING: Search underway for woman who left Utah campsite and didn't return

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding 33-year-old Sarah Frances Cox who went missing Sunday.

Cox is also known by the last name Yasuda.

Sheriffs say Cox was camping with her husband and son in the Little Creek Mountain area, southwest of Apple Valley.

Cox left the campsite the evening of Sunday the 28th on foot, possibly headed to Hurricane.

When Cox didn't come back the next day, her husband reported her missing.

Deputies and search and rescue crews searching the area on Monday for Cox but had to terminate the search because of severe thunderstorms.

A helicopter was dispatched as the search resumed Tuesday afternoon.

Cox is 5’9” weighing 190 pounds.

She has red hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt with a black colored hoodie sweatshirt and hiking boots.

Anyone who may have seen Cox, or with information regarding her disappearance is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (435)634-5730.

Sheriff’s office asking for public’s help in locating woman who didn’t return to campsite
[...]

Sheriff’s Lt. David Crouse told St. George News that the woman’s husband didn’t report her missing until the following day because they’re avid campers, and Cox is well-versed with the area. She did not have a cell phone with her.

“He didn’t think it was suspicious,” Crouse said.

"We ask that people not attempt to search the area for her at this time, in an effort to preserve any possible tracks or evidence," the Washington County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday in a social media post. "Complying with this request will allow search crews to narrow their search without having to filter out uninvolved parties."
