UT - Sierra Newbold, 6, abducted & murdered, West Jordan, 26 June 2012 *Arrest*

  • #221
Please let this be the week they find this sick perv and bring him to justice so this sweet baby can rest in peace. I am sickened when I imagine how frightening her last bit of time on earth was. Then the sick animal who did this discarded her like garbage. I hope he is shown no mercy!

I was hoping to log-in this morning and find that the monster that did this to Sierra had been captured! I pray LE can find the monster that did this to Sierra.

Those looking forward to seeing her again are her Mom and Dad, (Kathy and Brad), Sisters Aubrey, Jami, and Taylor, her incredible Big Brother Troy, "Stepbrother" Bobby, Grandma and Grandpa Newbold (Reed and Francis), Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney (Dan and Pat); several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

Sierra was given an interesting obituary.

So instead of the usual "she was survived by" and then listing all of those people - they said all of those (survived by her) are looking forward to seeing her in heaven upon their own deaths.

Sierra was given an interesting obituary.

IDK, maybe the parents didn't even write it. If, God forbid, I found myself in their shoes I'd probably be catatonic and the last thing I'd be able to do is write an obit. I know when my grandma passed neither my mom nor her siblings could do it so I did it. Some people complained because I called her a "spunky lady" but she was! Sounds like a "blended" family. I wonder which kids were half brothers and sisters. It mentions one "step brother." I prayed for them a lot on Saturday. I hope the arrest comes soon so Sierra can rest in peace.

I loved that part. I was curious about the choice of putting the word "incredible" in front of one of the family members' names. :silenced: :tos: The first time I read her obit, I missed seeing that word "incredible". i saw it today. It is interesting.

Oh yeah, I missed that. That is unusual. Kind of draws attention to that particular brother. Maybe she referred to him as her "incredible brother". IDK.

I think that it is nice to know that Sierra's loved ones are looking forward to seeing her in heaven. This may not be the way that most obits are worded, but I don't find it strange at all. MOO

Do we know who all was said to be in the house that morning? Or who all lived in the home? It looks like there is at least one adult sister and possibly one adult brother.

I thought it was sweet. The only odd note was the reference to the "incredible Big Brother, Tr." That does seem odd since she was said to be close to her sister Ta. given that closeness, I would think if any sibling would warrant descriptive adjectives it would be she, not he. Otherwise, I found the obituary to be lovely in its sentiment.

Also I noted the capitalization of Big Brother, Sisters and Stepbrother, as if they are titles and not relationships.

I am not sure if it means anything though other than I may be nit picking and have seen too much hink in various cases and am now overly watchful for it.

What if that particular brother has special needs? Maybe that's why that one was the only one given a superlative?

Several articles stated that one sister and an older brother lived at home with mom and dad.

Inside? Stupid question, but is that common?
I don't think so.

Some people with tiny babies and children have a nanny cam, but I don't think this mom worked outside her home and her children were old enough to speak up about abuse. (Maybe one of them did or was getting ready to do this and this is why she was killed?) Other parents put a video camera in their home to prove to the psychiatrist that their child is awakening and sleep walking. having violent rages, having severe mood swings, or etc... Others put security cameras in their homes when they have been robbed or have very expensive items located in their home.

Officials revealed on Thursday that a surveillance camera at the Newbolds' house in West Jordan, Utah captured images from around the time of her disappearance on Tuesday morning.

I am so glad this family had cameras and I am praying that the perp didnt know it and crossed in front of the cameras.

As a part of our home security package we also have cameras.

IMO

I agree that it would be great if the cameras captured images of the killer, but I am also thinking that if there were pics that we would have at least heard rumors of that by now. ( I realize that the post I quoted was written several days ago.)

If they don't have any pics of the killer, that could be very telling as well. It is not very likely that a total stranger would know where the cameras were, so if they were able to avoid the cameras, it would have to be someone who had spent enough time in the home to scope it out. Could be someone like the cable guy, an exterminator, carpet cleaning service etc.

Another thing...what about the virus I've read about that turns your computer's camera on even when you aren't using it? Could it be that someone was watching them thru their own video cam without their knowledge?

Forgive me if I'm missing something, I confess I haven't finished reading every page of this thread yet.

MOO

I think they are going to play things very close to the vest as not to alert any potential suspects. If there were any images I'm sure we would NOT have heard anything at all, as not to tip off the perp. IMO, I'm not in law enforcement or anything. But I think you don't want the suspect or suspects to know you are on to them.

The police have the video. If it were a video belonging to a sicko who secretly records people, LE would have arrested him or LE wouldn't have the ability to look at his secretly taken video.

Respectfully snipped from post #6 first page of thread.

I have been told that her name is Sierra Newbold... and I believe I know the family.

MsFacetious, do you in fact know of this family? I was wondering if you could tell us if there is a disabled child in the home? Not trying to sleuth a minor just might give us a better idea if in fact that could be why security cameras were taken from inside home as opposed to outside cameras? TIA
