Also I would like to see a link where someone says there will be a press conference. I can’t find one. MOO

Why get rid of the body but keep her clothes?
who knows. Maybe he grabbed extra clothes going out the door.

And did he really walk? Could he have gotten a ride?
I wish, because if someone innocently picked him up, I think they would share info with LE.
I think walking long distances is normal for him. A guy about the same age walks over ten mi daily, going past my house, to his farm job. He’s fast.

Possibly she didn’t feel like Skateboarding!
I do believe he had uncontrollable impulses fueled by drugs.
I’m stunned he was coherent after arriving at the police department. It’s a wonder he didn’t pass out.

Imo, his FB postings reveal he’s a troubled person with a very dark side.

I really don’t think the weed has much, if anything, to do with his actions. Alcohol, sure. But weed is legal in my state... it has been for many years. People aren’t turning into crazed baby killers. If he was taking bath salts, I would believe this line of thinking a lot more.

Idk
I’m looking for a link, maybe FB?
I thought I read a post saying they were having a PC at 8:00 am. Maybe I misread, though. I assumed it would be on the local news station or something. Imo

Back a couple pages, it was not long ago.

IMO, his Facebook didn't really give me a troubling vibe.

Agreed. We are looking at his stuff with the context of what he is suspected of, so its super easy to think that things are way worse than he ever intended. Had we looked at his page on Thursday it wouldn’t have stood out as anything more than he’s just a weird angsty sort of guy.

All I can find is someone stating that a reporter said that, but no link, and his Twitter says nothing about it. MOO
ETA found it. Twitter
he says it in the video. But he also say AW lives in the home with JW. Have we heard this before. It’s a very choppy live update so maybe not right.

Oh, I think weed is the least of AW’s drug problem.
Heck, he might be on Rx, I properly using certain drugs can cause huge issues, as we know.
I still think he had special interest in his niece & premeditated his abduction. Moo

I guess there is the long shot possibility that he wasn't involved in her disappearance?

Well... given that he had item(s) of her clothing that made cops know she was with him for longer than he claimed, I’m not sure. For what it’s worth, I take that to mean that her clothes had something wrong with them that wasn’t the case when her mama checked on her before going to sleep. IE: ripped, dirty, bloody.

  • #811
I really found that odd. Why get rid of the body but keep her clothes? Now don't get me wrong, he is 99.99% likely the guy, but I just would have expected to find her by now.

Probably has his DNA on her clothing and he didn’t want anyone to associate him with her body if it was found. I assume his plan was to destroy the clothes.

We don't know his path," said Capt. Budge. "We have not been able to confirm any of his story where he went and stores he went into through surveillance video. I don't think he's been very honest with us at all."

He is avoiding disclosing his route because it will put attention on where the body is, or isn't.

Let me backtrack: He was at the home of his sister and ES. We don't have any info that he arrived there (as in by skateboard) wearing the suit so I presume he dressed at the home and actually left his street clothes there. MOO. OR - does he stay there ?(I'd like very much to know this information)

It's about 7.8 miles DRIVING directly from the home to the Hyrum Short Stop. But that would have been on major thorougfares with stop lights and stores and he would likely have been recorded on a surveillance camera there. We know he had no vehicle, no skateboard. I contend he was on foot. He could easily have covered the distance on foot in 3-4 hours, even avoiding the major driving routes.

So he could easily have covered the distance from the Shelley home to the Hymer Short Stop IN THE DARK or early dawn hours on Saturday am. Say between 3 am to 6 or 7 am. But it would have taken longer if he was carrying a 30-40 pound body on him, AND he would have had even more reason to avoid any detection. I really agree he concealed her body within a mile (or less) of the house. And quickly high-tailed it out of there. My contention is that he would have used the railroad track path that tends to avoid major routes and surveillance cameras most all the way along the line, most importantly not within obvious sight line of the highway between Logan and Hyrum.

In addtion, he was still wearing the suit when he was seen by the store clerk at the Short Stop. So he didn't stop off anyplace along the line to change into street clothes. (Several pages back on this thread there was some info from someone who claimed to know something about a friend of his who put him up in the Hyrum area - this wasn't verified by the mods so I can't rely on it). But he didnt change clothes in that nearly 12 hour time frame. He could easily have found a place behind a building on a Saturday morning to sleep off a couple of hours, thinking he was safe for a bit 10 miles from the crime scene.

Then he takes off again, now using a dirt road to avoid the one major paved road between Hyrum and Paradise.

MOO: LE needs to check every inch of territory along that train track and check every building's surveillance cameras. Like others, I'm firmly convinced she's within a mile of the home. And likely in the direction west, across the train tracks.

Edited to remove comments about a wedding, which has not been mentioned by LE, and appears to have only been an idea as to why he was wearing a suit

I'm sure he was capable, I'm just wondering, since LE said the places he said he went didn't add up. Either he didn't take the route he said he did or got there another way.
He may have taken back roads or paths where he wouldn't be seen. Obviously there is a reason he does not want them to know which way he went.

His fb was a bit “troubled” but I wouldn’t call it red-flag worthy. And unless he got ahold of some stimulants, weed certainly did NOT fuel his actions.. i think he had some deep-seated problem that hadn’t quite surfaced in this magnitude until now. Glad he’s caught but I hope they find her body ASAP to make sure he has no way of getting out. What a disgusting tragedy. Praying to the universe this family gets closure sooner rather than later.

Presser link??? TIA

New research published on-line in advance of print in the journal <em>Psychological Medicine</em>, concludes that continued use of cannabis causes violent behavior as a direct result of changes in brain function that are caused by smoking weed over many years.
****************************************

We don’t know what drugs he used, if any, Friday-Saturday. We also have no clue how he is able to handle pot, if he smokes it.
As far as FB, when someone discusses suicide or posts about physically abusing his partner, I find it disturbing. Moo

He is avoiding disclosing his route because it will put attention on where the body is, or isn't.

Let me backtrack: He was at the home of his sister and ES. The returned late from a wedding (and he was wearing a suit and tie) so we can presume he also attended the wedding. And where did he get the suit, or dress for the wedding? - likely at the same home. We don't have any info that he arrived there (as in by skateboard) wearing the suit so I presume he dressed at the home and actually left his street clothes there. MOO.

There was no wedding that we have any confirmation of. That was a rumor started here after someone speculated that maybe he went to a wedding and then someone else got confused and thought it was fact. Continuing that line of discussion as if it was fact confuses things more.

So LE knows he was at a wedding? I had not heard of a wedding.
I think he easily walked to Hyrum but I think in a lot less time. Moo he can easily cover a mile in 10-12 minutes. And, if he needed to hurry, even faster.

21-year old Alex Whipple is police's main suspect. He's in the Cache County jail on an arrest warrant for a probation violation, as well as drug and gun-related charges

Liljenquist said Whipple bought cigarettes and beer. That was at about 1:30 p.m.
Logan Police said authorities caught up to Whipple less than two hours later a few miles away from the Hyrum Shortstop, walking along a country road.

Employee: Suspect in missing child case came into Hyrum gas station

IMO, that is a very telling article. Describes Whipple’s clothing and demeanor at 1:30 pm on Saturday. Thanks for posting it, Trudie.

It still hasn't been established as to where he was living (paying rent or not, eating, where his few belongings might be).
We only know he worked 4 months ago in Hyrum before he quit.
So, why did he head back down there ( Hyrum) the night in question?
Why not go back to where he had been staying, wherever that is?
