Add something to my hinky meter. Giving a 1 year old Smores for breakie? What time did they have breakfast - especially leaving so late. Isn't it difficult to build a fire in the snow (unless they had a grill or something). Those little ones must have been freezing.

I have so many questions - so few answers. Did they have a caravan (pulled by a truck) or a mobile home? Don't tell me they camped in tents.

What was the distance time was. Did he have just enough time to get there, get a few hours sleep (kill wife inserted here), have smores for breakfast, then drive home?

Fans in the bedroom? WTH.

I am so confoosed.

Mel

IIRC, someone posted upthread that it's about 3 hrs from West Valley City to the supposed camping place, Pony Express Trails.

Locals posting comments at news sites claim it was snowing Sunday nite, early Monday a.m.....so if he went to the Pony Express Trails, guessing it might have taken longer than 3hours.

However, IMO I don't think he went there -- just said he did & it's another 'story'.

They need to keep questioning him before he lawyers up.

Dr--have also been thinking same. But, with no call on Monday (1st day of new job) means NO job. public defender?

Yes and he can't get that till he is charged.

Sad thing is the more press the story gets the more likely a lawyer will step forward for him for free.

I bet he will lawyer up for that third interview.

Question now is, where did he dump her body?
I think it was done in those 3 hours they went sledding supposedly.

Hi everyone. Can they prevent him from picking the kids up until police figure this out?

  • #270
I really worry about those kids..hopefully they are with her family?

I wonder what the 4 year old has to say when "dad" isn't around?

I keep thinking back to the little boy who said "mommy was in the rug" etc

Person of Interest>>> hopefully LE is just waiting to put it all together
wet spot on the floor and 2 fans?? scary

I feel so sad for her family...they want to "bring her home" but they really don't sound hopeful...just sad

just thinking out loud... but I bet he killed her after the children were put to bed. He loads her in the car (most likely in the trunk) and than wakes up the children and tells them the camping story. Now where did he go? He went somewhere far enough that he didn't get back until the afternoon on Monday. He surly did not expect for her sister to call cops did he! I think that threw a wrench in his story.. (although the whole camping story at FREAKING MIDNIGHT in a SNOW STORM is a wrench in and of itself!)

Thanks for that article SuziQ that is calling him a person of interest. He is more than a person of interest in my book!

Man, there is a whole lot of ground to cover in the time that lapsed. He seems to have planned it pretty well if he caused her to disappear. This is going to have to be some kind of CSI ending-like detailing the car and finding soil specific to a certain area etc... :(

"We are putting practically every detective we have on this case," West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan said Friday afternoon. "It's highly suspicious."
He said about 30 detectives hunted down leads Friday as investigators tried to verify Josh Powell's story, but couldn't because snow had covered the spot along The Pony Express Trail where he said he took the children.

Can a hole be dug when the ground is frozen? I don't think so.
I hope the police have brought dogs to the supposed camping site.

This man's story is all over the place. He's just not bright enough to
plan this out. IMO.

Hacking: wife in landfill
Peterson: wife in ocean
other men who kill: wife in oil barrel, wife in backyard, freezer, basement, closet.. and on it goes...

Prayers for Susan.

This is what happens in the beginning of these cases, the facts get confused. Like on the NG program, I believe, they mentioned that he'd been unemployed but was due to start a new job. We also had links to his website as a real estate agent. However, after reading comments by locals in some of the news articles, it's been stated that he hadn't been doing real estate for some time. Then you have another poster who claims to work with him in IT. But, that's kind of saying 'work,' present tense, so that wouldn't be a new job?

Yeah, confusing but that's part of sleuthing, putting the pieces together, sometimes perhaps in the wrong place and they may fit at a later time. These are statements found on one of the earlier articles linked, from someone who claims to know the husband. So this is just fwiw, and not necessarily the truth or accurate. Just to be stored in the back of your mind and maybe to be brought forward again as part of the big picture, or not.

1. A person claiming to be a co-worker of the husband, said it wouldn't be unusual for this guy to pick up at any given moment and go camping. He's kind of a computer 'geek.' OTOH, they claim he and fellow co-workers find it curious that Susan would have let him take the children out like that at night. They remain concerned for their co-worker.

2. Another person said that the husband is not a 'violent' type person but they claim that during the past five years he has been verbally abusive to Susan..............take this with a grain of salt unless you see it repeated by more of Susan's family and friends. One comment doesn't necessarily make it so, but multiple statements repeating the same thing, becomes a pattern.

I'm still reading the comments so may add more later,
fran

PS...Oops............just realized that the second statement mentioned above is not the same person, co-worker, but someone else who's known him for 8 years. I'll correct it.......fran

The first person listed above said he'd heard about the husband's treatment of Susan, but to him it was hear-say as he'd never seen that and they had been at the company Xmas party just the night before and everything seemed fine............

I saw in one article, sorry, no link but it's back here on previous pages, that the husband's hands appeared to be chafed or close to frost bitten. Curious, no gloves?

Cell phone pings will bear out the truth I'm sure.

I wonder if Susan's sister tried to contact him before she called in the missing person's report? Did he ever answer if she tried to call him? Or was his phone off and it went straight to voice mail?

The records from the carrier will tell..........

He didn't take any cell phones with him......smart cookie!

saw a comment at ksl.com that I didn't notice last nite --- it's near the comment about "mommy in the woods"- snipped part of it

"Josh made dinner, which was a little uncharacteristic of him, Susan had an ear ache and went to lie down. Then the family friend left."

Yowza -- IIRC, Chris Coleman uncharacteristically cooked dinner for Sheri for her last meal.

'Mimi' has also said that she bought a house that Josh sold as realtor but is no longer a realtor.
