I've been off WS for a couple of days. Thought I would check on this case after finding out about it last night on Nancy Grace. Has a search warrant been issued for the home and the vehicle? Thanks for any help.

Hi lonetraveler...They did get a warrant for the home and the family van. I think Both have already been turned back over to him...and LE is waiting on testing.

I think I mentioned this upthread, but the problem w/ following this story is that one has to read every article & listen to every news vid to get 'facts' and try to put a timeline together.

The 'news' leaves so much room for a lot of confusion. :banghead:

I hope the fliers they are passing out have the family picture on it and not just Susan's or better yet a pic of Susan alone and a family pic. Most likely there won't be any witnesses coming forth to say they saw Susan any time after 5:30 on Sunday. But there may be witnesses coming forward to say they saw Josh and the kids sometime between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning.

I agree with you on that one. Whereever he was driving around with the children, they would need to go to the restroom, he would probably have to change a diaper (one of the children was pretty young), feed them, maybe buy gas. Hopefully, someone will come forward who saw them.

1. Husband not the one who reported victim missing.

2. Husband had 'odd' alibi, ie going camping in sub-zero temperartures, late at night, leaving sick wife home alone in bed, and taking two toddlers, pre five yo's into the freezing winter night.

3. Change of story details, here and there or becoming evasive.

4. Avoiding media contact.

5. Avoiding media questions, ie "Is that where you went camping?" to which he replies, "I have to pick up my boys."

6. Avoids wife-victim's family.

7. Stops talking to LE

8. Concerned with 'his house.'

9. Speaks of victim in 'past-tense.'

10. Speaks of 'buying new clothes and comforter.'

11. Unexplained 'wet spot' in carpeting and 'fans being used to dry.'

12. Gradual release of 'friends and family' speaking of marital problems.

13. Alleged from 'friends' of husband having control issues, which included control of wife ie victim.

14. Alleged from 'friends' of 'verbal abuse' by husband of victim.

15. Alleged statement by one of the children (ok, possibly rumor) "Daddy said mommy stayed in the woods for awhile."

The friend who ate dinner with them. Female, male? Has this person gave any interviews with the press or been questioned by LE? Surely, questioned by LE. I'm sure I may have missed the article.

Maybe he used credit cards!!! That would be a great paper trail !!!
If he used cash, then we will know it was a PLAN!

yes Susan had a good job and looks like she made the family's income, but he didn't work much, correct?
Yet how many cells phones did they have? a camp? new compressor?
Christmas time...........money?
In these hard times even gas for an unneccessary midnight trip to camp is a treat.
Was the house decorated? Do Mormons decorate? Celebrate any holiday like Christmas?
or is it just another day to them?

one of the comments for story @ ksl.com says Josh works in IT for a distribution company...the poster there made it sound as tho Josh is currently employed. FWIW.

Josh's comment to the neighbor "I wonder if my bird is dead" -- WTH?!!??!!

That's freaking weird, IMO when neighbor says he wouldn't talk about his missing wife!!

ETA -- and "testing the generator" on the camping trip, sledding in the dark, and near frost-bitten hands

I missed that, does he have a pet bird?
WTH is he talking about?

I hope they arrest this guy before he freaks and split's town or does himself in....

I was thinking the same thing to. This guy needs to rot in prison or worse, but certainly not at his own hands. I hope he cracks and LE gets to him first. The family deserves to know what happened.

It was in the article where the neighbor said he wouldn't talk about Susan missing..

"I told him if my wife came up missing, I'd be going nuts, I'd be outlooking for her. What do you think? He's like the cops are handling all that," said Peterson.

Peterson said Powell kept talking about himself instead.

"He was talking about his kids, about his clothes about his sleep. He was talking about his van that police took. He was talking about his house, talking about like I wonder if my bird is dead," said Peterson.

18. Sledding in the dark?

19. Near frost bitten hands.

20. Just the sheer distance of the alleged camp site (3 or 4 hours drive)

21. NOT one sign of husband camping where he said he was.

22. Just plain talking about 'himself,' rather than his missing wife!!!!!!!!

Blue are added as the case developes and Websleuthers mention them

Thanks Texas Mist! :)

I doubt if Josh put her near camp because that's where LE would go check out first. My guess is she was dumped by him early on his trip to ???

I agree. IF Susan were to be found where he says he camped, the police would logically make the connection.

But, if he wanted the police to think he took off on a trip while she stayed at home, and while he was away someone broke in and abducted her (or she walked away) then he has had to dump her body closer to their home.

Now, I know that the weather is bad in the area, but ... I'm surprised that the police has not done any searches. Or, have they?

The police have got to show some effort and not focus on her husband so much, or the "rush to judgment" will bite them in the arse later on.

I bet that he didn't count on Susan's family reporting her missing so soon. I bet he came home and was planning on cleaning up and staging something to make him look innocent.

I thought I had read that the children were staying with an aunt...anyone else read that ?

I did read that the children were staying with 'paternal relatives,' but then there was a video of him approaching a house and he said 'I have to pick up my boys.'
