I feel so sorry for Susan's Dad and I don't think he has his head in the clouds. He may be saying in public that Josh was/is a good Dad/Husband etc but I think he's onto Josh and has been from the begining. The old saying "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" comes to mind.
My opinion is that he doesn't want to distance himself from Josh because of the grandkids.
Drew Peterson comes to mind ... he kept his and Stacy's kids away from her side of the family because they turned on him.
Just a thought.

Finally, he is a person of interest. Maybe the evidence results are coming back, and soon there will be a viable case for the prosecution to utilize. I think that it is only a matter of time.;)

— Joshua Powell, whose wife disappeared from their West Valley City, Utah, home more than a week ago, is considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Susan Powell, said Assistant Police Chief Craig Black.
"We've been interested in what Josh has had to say all along," said Black.
Black said that detectives have met twice with Josh Powell. "He submitted to a search warrant and provided a DNA sample."
"I wouldn't characterize him (Joshua) as being cooperative."

Just about every case we've watched here on the pages of WS, the husband distances the children from the wife's family. Michelle Young, Stacey Peterson, Janet Aboara, Lisa Stebic, Nancy Cooper, Kelly Morris, and I could go on and on and on...........

Fortunately, recently there's been cases, especially in NC, where the wife's family has managed to step in legally and use the system to get custody of the children. That is an added bonus to LE investigating the wife's murder or disappearance as they can often times use those proceedings to gain valuable information. It all began with the Nancy Cooper case and has been repeated over and over, much to the chagrin, I'm sure, of the perps! The stuff discovered by the legal wrangling on the Nancy Cooper case was an "OMG!" moment, for sure!

omegagal, awesome post on what the possible scenario was in this case. Very probable, IMHO.

I find it most interesting that several of Susan's friends had advised her the marriage wasn't good and to 'just get out!' ...................VERY TELLING, IMHO.

JMHO
fran

PS..........oh and his "Mr. Nice-Nice" the past few months, IMHO, was all an act! We've seen that before as well! That's just giving them time to scheme! fran

MEDIA RELEASE 12/16/09 0630 PST from Shelby Gifford, family friend and spokesperson for the Cox Family in Puyallup WA:

We wish to extend our appreciation to the hundreds of journalists who have contacted us and who have provided such extensive coverage of Susan's disappearance. We have no doubt that your efforts are one of the best tools for finding her.

For today, December 16, 2009, the entire Cox family, Shelby and Michael Gifford, Kiirsi Hellewell and other friends of Susan's will not be scheduling media interviews.

If we have already scheduled an interview with you for today, we will keep that commitment. We will not, however, be adding any interviews to our schedule unless a major break comes in the case, in which case, Shelby Gifford will be available for interviews as appropriate.

The Cox family and friends of Susan Powell all express our appreciation for the kind way we've been treated by almost every journalist we've encountered. We know you have a job to do, and we are trying to accommodate you, as well as continue to have Susan's photo and information spread throughout the world.

Mr. Cox and Mr. Gifford will be traveling to Seattle from Salt Lake City this afternoon. Interview requests for tomorrow, Thursday, December 17, should be scheduled to take place in Puyallup, WA, approximately 40 miles south of Seattle.

We will be in contact with the West Valley City Police Department today and will continue to receive updates from them as needed. We appreciate the long, difficult hours the entire department is working to find Susan.

Thank you for honoring our request that you do not contact extended family members of Susan Powell. We look forward to this day as a day of reconnection and appreciate your understanding our request for privacy.

Inquiries for interviews scheduled for tomorrow can be directed to Shelby Gifford, family friend and spokesperson for the Cox Family.

How old is JoVonna? IIRC, there is only a ten or so year age difference. Josh is almost 40 and looks 28, which would make it appear there is a larger age difference than there is.

It appears the family and friends are re-grouping, IMHO.

I believe there is a LOT behind the scenes that we don't know about! Then you add LE's statements today, things are boiling there in Utah.

FWIW, the other day while looking around for info on Susan's case, I came across a couple of ''blogs" from friends of the couple. Sorry, I can't give a link, LOL, I can't even find some of them again now. But the 'friends' and acquaintances said there was a LOT not getting out to the media. They seemed to be prepared to, and may have already by the time I saw the blog, talked to LE................. Oh, and one blogger said they already believe "the HUSBAND" was guilty! This was from the get-go!

Just sayin'

The police chief was just on Fox News (national) and announced that Josh is a "person of interest".

He did answer minimal questions to police yesterday but as far as sitting down and answering extensive questions they have in order to move the case forward, that didn't happen.

He said that a search warrant was served to obtain the DNA.

Good Deal!!! They would not name him a person of interest without lots of evidence. Arrest will be coming soon.

Thanks, Fran, I am glad that what I thought is true, that there is stuff underneath that we don't know about yet.:o

Kiirsi Hellewell, Susan Powell's best friend, said she has been in contact with Josh Powell on a daily basis but hasn't asked him specific questions about Susan in an effort not to interfere with the investigation or to lose his trust as a friend.

"He doesn't do a lot of talking. He mostly looks upset and confused and is crying most of the time," Hellewell said.

She said she sat next to Josh Powell at church on Sunday and that he cried through most of the service.

What is he crying about? It is not his missing wife or he would be helping the police find her.

Thank you for posting this...

I find it very telling that they don't include Josh in this as one of the family members/friends.

I think he's crying out of frustration that not everybody is believing his story.
I mean come on now, he thought he had a brilliant plan here and would have expected the entire community to be supportive of him and anticipated different women to be bringing him dinners and offering to watch the children for him.

You know who he reminds me of is the husband in the movie Fargo, William Macy I believe is his name.

I'm not surprised Susans father has not spoken out against him, he has to be worried about his grandchildren and also hoping that there's a chance Susan can be found and there is likely only 1 person who can tell them where she is.

I think it is clearly apparent that LE has had the husband in their sites from the get go.
Just waiting for the evidence to come back. Regarding the neighbor, I think the fact that she wouldn't talk about the phone call the first day, was LE told her not to. I do not see her having any secret relationship with the husband. She is keeping her mouth shut like she was told. Good for her.
IMO he will be talking soon, trying to save his 🤬🤬🤬 big time. He knows they know.

So nowwww Joshy goes to church (altho he doesn't attend regularly)....had breakfast @ the church Saturday a week ago, but didn't attend services w/ his family the next day on Sunday.

Whatever, Josh, if this is more of your headgames. If not, hopefully you'll come to a decision to do the right thing & tell *everything* you know about what happened to your wife, where you were 'driving around with the kids', and show LE where you really spent the nite.

  • #276
I bet the phone records show he never called his wife on his trip.

  • #277
If she was asleep did he leave a note saying where he was going I wonder.

  • #278
i hope u guys are right about an arrest soon. I hope all is mum due to the evidence being stockpiled against this creep, but the pessimist in me is saying this is about to get ugly and a long and drawn out affair.

Crying..........now he is scared for himself, his soul and his sons WILL be taken away from him. Self pity has hit him.
A psychopath can kill his WIFE and blame HER for why HE is a WIDOWER.
His tears are because he has no home to go to..........his life is changed,
BIG TME.
But none of this is HIS fault because he is PERECT!!!
and no one understands him now.............IMO
