Here's a video about the candlelight vigil 12/10/09 & includes interviews w/Josh.
http://connect2utah.com/content/video/?cid=66341

Thank you 5E... while viewing part of news report from vigil I saw only one man anywhere close to the right age bracket anywhere near JP, but he bore no resemblance IMO. Think I'm gonna have to go wade back thru articles & news reports to confirm whether SP was in UT. I doubt that this 'homewrecker' dad who couldn't be bothered to search for his DIL would've attended any vigils for Susan--or anything else public or videotaped. JMHO

Lemonmoussetart (or anyone) can you please help me to find video or photos of first ("Silent Night") candlelight vigil held in WA in West View Park Dec. 10 I believe? You mentioned Josh there and that there may have been someone beside him...

:parrot:

am sooo looking kiki. not on Amanda's site. cannot rest until it surfaces.

Ok you'll all think I'm crazy now (if you don't already lol) but if Red Coat *WAS* SP (Josh and "friend" were obviously both caught off guard on arriving) and he was afraid of being taped and identified, he may have stayed off camera then simply claimed to be a "friend" so as not to place himself in West Valley City. And in that case THIS may be the reason why video tapes were supboenaed by WVPD. Won't surprise me one bit.

Regarding Josh's lawyer, Scott Williams, we pretty much agree that Josh can't afford to pay for his services so he must be doing it pro bono. But do we know WHO ACTUALLY HIRED HIM?

Where I'm going with this is -- The Church of LDS, like any organization with a reputation to maintain, certainly makes provisions for situations which could cast them in a poor light. While I can't find anything specifically linking Williams to Mormonism, Elizabeth Smart's ordeal with Wanda Barzee (a Mormon) was another case where LDS had cause to cringe; and Williams repped Barzee apparently for free also.

I'm certainly not suggesting anything sinister here, merely a possible explanation for Williams presence. What if he is a LDS-retained attorney, called in to represent indigent Church members who need criminal defense?

IIRC, Barzee was not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and Mitchell may believe some of the teachings of the actual LDS church but they also probably have a lot of beliefs that are not condoned by the mainstream LDS church. Similarly, the FLDS church is a lot different than the LDS church but some people group them into one church, especially when LDS church members, FLDS church members, and fundamentalists are all sometimes referred to as "Mormons." It can be pretty confusing.

Perhaps there is some other reason why Williams is representing Josh.

O/T...but about NG...got an update on FB from Ray Giudice that he's on her show tonite...and they're supposed to be covering the Baby Gabriel Case and Susan Powell....

ETA : That is, unless Tiger slept with a manatee...or Charlie Sheen beat up a meter maid

I watched most of NG tonight, but don't believe she did anything on Susan Powell. At the beginning of the program, they showed hints of discussing SP. Did I miss it? Or did she just run out of time?????

(bbm) Agree w everything you've stated here, including speculation re LE's approach--and those cases really are eerily plausible scenarios, uncannily similar to my own theories--father meeting son part way to transfer the body is exactly what I've been saying likely occurred! (Of course I've been watching all the same true crime shows for years too lol... 48 Hours & FF etc, wow can't believe I missed any episodes... and I thought I was the only obsessed one lol). Let's just pray JP and daddy haven't been watching these too and picked up some pointers. Again, very glad you could join us!!

:parrot:

Thank you for the friendly welcome! Actually it was yours and others mentioning their possible scenarios that got me to wondering if these are things that were plausible enough so that they had already happened before. So that's why I thought of these other cases. It is hard to accept that a father would actually dispose of a murder victim's body (his daughter-in-law no less) as a favor to a son, but yes, it has happened relatively recently here in the good ol' USA (and no doubt at other times/places also.)

I think it's probably very possible that the JP used the rental car to go and perhaps move the body to a less visible location. I'm wondering if JP would be able to dig deeply enough into the dirt. And even if he was able, as soon as the snow melts, a fresh grave would most likely be identifiable.

She ran out of time. She said tomorrow.

Hi everyone! I'm new and have been lurking here for a couple of weeks trying to catch up with everything. This case caught my attention the first time I heard Josh's ridiculous alibi - just incredible.

I keep wondering about the car alarm going off at about 11:45 on Sunday night. How/why do you suppose that happened? And, wouldn't the kids have heard it, too? Why did it stay on for so long?

If she was drugged, couldn't he have just gone and opened the door and then put her in the van without any trouble? Or, if she wasn't drugged, could she have tried to hide in the van (with the keys) and when he tried to open the door he set the alarm off?

I just really wonder how that fits in...

WELCOME diphi!

Is that the worst possible video from an 'innocent' husband or what? No wonder he retained a lawyer shortly thereafter, and LE subpoenaed it. We have speculated on why car alarm went off, not the least of which maybe it was accidentally hit when loading van.

How surreal that must have been.

I suppose it continued going off for so long while he loaded and arranged. But, aren't most car alarms located somewhere on or near the steering column? Wonder why he would be in the driver's area and accidentally hit the alarm. Seems like he would be near the back of the van.

Thanks for the welcome.

....If the Susan Powell case could get as much coverage as the Laci Peterson - that would be EXCELLENT - along with all the other missing people cases. I think the media does help in these cases, they really put the fire to the rear of some of these perps!!!

That's when I first "discovered" NG. Compare her show then and now. It's not even close, it was so much better then. She was relentless, and I would bet that to this day scott peterson hates her guts for all the heat her show put on him. And yes, NG coverage was heavy even before those fishermen found her body in the water.

*sigh* there are just so many places a body can be stashed. Sometimes they are found soon, and sometimes they aren't found for years. Some are never found.

Finally, Nancy Grace had a decent show! Not one mention of Tiger or Charlie!
She did not get to Susan Powell tonight, talked about the missing 8 month old baby from Tempe Arizona. A very good show! Maybe she has seen the light and will go back to the important issues of missing/murdered people and criminal cases.
I am wondering what LE really has in this case that they are holding close to the vest. Actually, I hope they have a lot more than what we know. I would have thought there would be some sort of conclusion by now. Pray for JP to crack under the pressure or guilt(?). Finding the body would be great.
I have missed a lot of posts, so will try to catch up and have somewhat intelligent responses!:blushing:

I've been waiting for 'Eyes for Lies' to get back from vacation & post her thoughts on Josh Powell.

No surprise folks...she agrees with world+dog about the 'blue beanie' interview.

Can't post the link but it's eyes for lies blogspot .

This is my first post to WS so please be gentle.

Josh knows what evidence LE has against him. His behavior indicates that he believes they have enough for an arrest and conviction.

Scott Peterson put on the act of the concerned, worried husband because he thought he was going to get away with his wife’s murder. He thought he had a good alibi and had covered up the loose ends. Josh was still in the process of covering his tracks when LE entered his home. I’m sure he never intended for anyone to see the two fans on the floor drying a wet spot. I doubt that an unplanned 12:30 AM camping trip with two small children in a snow storm and on a work night was the alibi he intended to use. He must have been planning to come home and finish cleaning up the scene. He was going to put the fans away and possibly put Susan’s purse, cell phone and keys in the van and leave it someplace. Then he could claim he saw her leave for work in the morning.

All we can do is speculate about what his intended alibi was going to be. It certainly wasn’t going to be the one he had to go with. If he were that stupid he would need to be watered twice a week.

Josh knows he’s going to be going to prison and is not even bothering with putting on the Scott Peterson act. An act I’m sure we would be witnessing if the Powell’s friends and family hadn’t immediately asked the police to do a welfare check on the residence.

I believe the police will make an arrest sometime this month. They have to wait for all the lab work to be completed and to cross all the T’s and dot all the I’s. They also need to chase down every credible lead or the defense will claim “a rush to judgment” at the trial.

Josh knows better than anyone if he was able to cover up his crime and his actions tell me he is just waiting for the ax to fall. He wants to spend what little freedom he has left with Daddy and not wasting it putting on a show that he knows will not help him.

I imagine that every time he hears a knock on the door or even a car drive down the street he thinks, “They’re here. I’m going to jail.” He knows how this story is going to end and his behavior has given the ending away.

Welcome, Doctorwoof.

I agree his plan was interrupted by the police. And, I sure hope you're right about an arrest this month.
