I can't help but wonder what must go on in the innocent minds of the children. To be sure they are asking questions.....when's mommy coming back, where's mommy, or I want mommy...Also wonder how does Josh answer their questions.

If they find Susan's hair in the van, can't they tell from the hair strand if it came from a dead body rather than hairs from when she was alive? or is it too soon to tell the difference?

I was wanting Susan's hair to be tested from either her hairbrush or ones found in the van from having been in it in the past. If Susan had been being poisoned slowly, there would be evidence of it in her hair strands.

BBM: I have to admit that I do not know exactly what length of time it would take to know if the hair came from a body with death having occurred very shortly before the hair having fallen out. I do know that with death, your body starts to break down immediately. There are people here who can answer that for you, tho.

Yes, they can tell the difference between hair stands from a live body and a dead body.

My info comes only from what I learned from following the Anthony case.

I also hope that they will test her hair for poisoning. To be sure they will...???

Susan Powell scam & Jovanna speaks

(snipped)
Additionally ABC 4 is hearing from JoVanna Owing the last person besides Josh Powell to see Susan alive, that Josh is planning on coming back to Utah, packing up and moving to Washington for good. That's a move that Susan's friends and family aren't happy about.

Owing says, "I would really like him to sit down and fully cooperate with the authorities and answer questions completely and it's sad he hasn't done that."

Respectfully snipped for space. Bolded by me.

One thing I want to say is that no way would LE ask people not to talk about Josh's vehicle! Le does not operate that way, nor do they take Susan OR Josh's friends into their confidence. I think that they are even careful what they tell Susan's family also. Susan's family is very vulnerable now, and LE would not want to get their hopes up or even minimize what little hope her family may have. JMO"

I don't think Kiirsi or anyone was implying LE was taking them into their confidence. What they're saying is that LE is asking them not to discuss certain details, which is common procedure during a criminal investigation.

IIRC, Barzee was not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and Mitchell may believe some of the teachings of the actual LDS church but they also probably have a lot of beliefs that are not condoned by the mainstream LDS church. Similarly, the FLDS church is a lot different than the LDS church but some people group them into one church, especially when LDS church members, FLDS church members, and fundamentalists are all sometimes referred to as "Mormons." It can be pretty confusing.

Perhaps there is some other reason why Williams is representing Josh.

I'd gotten my info elsewhere, but there is a very informative writeup of the Mitchell/Barzee history at http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/criminal_mind/sexual_assault/elizabeth_smart/1_index.html

So they weren't LDS at the moment of the crime, but seem to have created their own FLDS upon excommunication. I'm really just thinking out loud on this tangent -- that either Williams is doing pro bono OR that someone who can afford him is paying for it (obviously not Josh himself).

In November 2001, around the same time that Lois Smart met "Emmanuel," the LDS Church excommunicated Mitchell and Barzee for "promoting bizarre teachings and lifestyle" that were not in accordance with church doctrine.

Excommunication did not deter Mitchell. He wrote his own gospel, "The Book of Immanuel David Isaiah" and declared that he was sent by God to return the Mormon Church to its fundamental values, including the practice of polygamy. In one of his writings he urged his wife to accept "seven times seven sisters" into their family.

I understand now why the LE wants all the videos of Josh.............
We only saw segments and Josh was disgusting.
Imagine what LE are veiwing!
The sniffles IMO is the kind like I get coming in from the cold........
like from warm car to the cold outside.
I do not think his sniffles are from crying IMO.
His face does not look wind burn but his hands were as stated,
ODD, very ODD........

Thank you Passion, I was hoping I wasn't the only one who felt weird when watching them.

Well, I was days behind on this case and while I was playing catch-up, I missed Tricia's appearance and the discussion about this case. I hope it will have a replay.

Just IMHO, I believe Josh is reading comments by people around the internet and reacting to them. We saw this on another case. The guy is now in jail awaiting trial for murder, so Josh needs to understand, no matter what he does from here on out is NOT going to make a bit of difference. Whatever happened to Susan is done, IF he's guilty he'll most likely be caught, and he's already made himself look guilty as sin, so actions now............won't change people's minds.

Like he went to the vigil in Washington, but he didn't act right. He kept away from friends and family, counting on a few to protect him and not even acknowleging Susan's family. When he was criticized for his actions against Susan's family, he began allowing visitation.

Josh KNOWS - EVERYONE KNOWS that the main issue between he and Susan was him NOT going to church.....So, what does he do? Starts going to church. Even at the objection of his dad, IMO,.................and IF his dad isn't objecting but encouraging him to attend, he's doing it only for APPEARANCE sake.

Give it up Josh, we have your number. :loser:

As far as LE not wanting the husbands photo or a photo of the van being used. Just my opinion, but I've seen this before, when LE is looking for witnesses or HAS a witness, to not polute the testimony or identification. They are probably busy talking to people who MAY have seen Josh during the critical days of Susan's disappearance. ;)

About the alarm going off the night Susan disappeared, I'm in agreement with some of the other posters, it may have gone off while Josh was disconnecting a gps.

Wonder IF Josh specifically asked for a car without GPS? It would be interesting to know if he even mentioned a GPS to the car rental place.

JMHO

After hearing this, I'm pretty convinced he's more guilty than ever. WHY would he not want to help search for his missing wife?? If your wife goes missing, you don't just call the police and let them handle it while you and your children go hang out in a whole nother state and pretend your wife doesn't even exist.

That's just sad.

:rose: Susan, please come home. Your family and your sons need you, even though your husband does not. I'm praying for you.

http://www.edmunds.com/chrysler/townandcountry/2005/index.html

There are 4 styles that were available in the 2005 Chysler Town & Country, verified by OK (the WS-posting friend) as the Powell's only vehicle in dark blue.

Base:
Available in Midnight Blue Pearlcoat
Anti-Theft Alarm System NOT STANDARD
Navigation System NOT STANDARD

LX:
Available in Midnight Blue Pearlcoat
Anti-Theft Alarm System NOT STANDARD
Navigation System NOT STANDARD

Touring:
Available in Midnight Blue Pearlcoat
Anti-Theft Alarm System **STANDARD**
Navigation System **STANDARD**

Limited:
Available in Midnight Blue Pearlcoat
Anti-Theft Alarm System **STANDARD**
Navigation System **STANDARD**

The 2007 bankruptcy documents of personal property:
2005 Chrysler Town & Country (basis for value: Kelly
BB)
15,380.00

I have NO idea how to determine which of the above styles would have been valued at $15,380 in 2007, but the current values range from $8000 (Base) - $13,000 (Limited).

I feel like Marisa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny!"

Some people use church as a social tool. Remember Denis Rader?

These psychos know that by participating in church (1) their reputations improve, and (2) they will have the social and moral support of the congregation.

It happens a lot here. I am active LDS; yet there is nothing that makes me run from a business meeting faster than a person who starts dropping his church callings into the conversation of the meeting.

I have had a guy "accidentally" hand me his temple recommend when he was reaching for his business card. Gag.

Sadly, every religion has scumbags.

I read a news article yesterday that mentioned SP going to UT. It had when he got there, and when he left to go back, but I can't remember where I read it.

Omg thank you Karen... I knew I'd read this early on but was having no luck finding and almost starting to question whether I dreamed it or remembered incorrectly! Please please try to find article again and direct me to this source! :prayer:

Fran (and others) -- Tricia's interview was apparently TAPED today for broadcast later. She's updated her note about it: "Whoops. My Mistake. The show was taped. The interview on the show Crime Prevention 101 will be available on January 14th click on the link. Voice America. Susan Bartelstone is a fantastic host. You'll find the interview interesting I hope. Sorry about the mix up. "

Seriously HAVE any of us, even single or without kids, managed to lose track of the day without SOMETHING reminding us fairly early on. Especially on a weekend with returning to work on Monday, sure ya sometimes wake up thinking it's the weekend but pretty quickly you realize that the routine is different and you get reoriented.

Here on WS I've seen people who have different perceptions of normal behavior based on their own experiences. A prime example is the Elizabeth Olten murder -- YouTube video surfaced of Alyssa Bustamante messing around with her brothers touching an electrical fence. While many people think that is just plain disturbing, just as many have done it themselves and think nothing odd about it.

I've not seen ONE COMMENT that anyone can personally relate to Josh's stories. Not one of us has gone an entire day without realizing that we were supposed to be at work. Not one of us has forgotten what day it is AND our spouse has ALSO forgotten that tomorrow is a work day. Not one of us has ever taken, or allowed our spouse to take, pre-school children camping at midnight in freezing weather.

Josh, you just suck at this! IMO, of course.

In the now familiar interview of Josh on his porch, a man stood well back from JP--safely out of view of any cameras--and even when JP finally had to motion and asked him to enter so JP could escape the reporters, get inside and close the door, he deliberately kept his back to the cameras. Nor has he allowed anyone to photograph or film him since then. Still looking, can't find anything... was this actually SP?

:parrot:

I am not certain on this and did not see that specific interview but based on your description I would guess it was one of Josh's brothers. I heard that one of them were here briefly to help with the kids and whatever else before Josh went to WA.

Regarding Josh's lawyer, Scott Williams, we pretty much agree that Josh can't afford to pay for his services so he must be doing it pro bono. But do we know WHO ACTUALLY HIRED HIM?

A few others and myself think for sure he is doing it pro bono because its a high profile case, but we also think Williams contacted Josh about it. I don't think Josh even had to do any work in finding a lawyer. Williams saw his chance to get his name out there for publicity and took it before anyone else could.
