At the risk of beating a dead horse, what if he was trying to hide the generator/auger?

I'm thinking that Josh and father wouldn't have to meet halfway. All Josh's father would need to know is what location did he leave her, then he could just travel there, find her and take her away. That way, there isn't a chance that the boys would see him. His father could have even given him the location to leave her.....I do hope that LE has checked on Josh's father's activities as well as the phone calls.

This is another angle that does make sense, if not for Josh being gone too long and the frost biten hands, etc., I'm also sure the father must have shown up for work, not like his dumb son. However, leaving the body out there to be picked up doesn't require pick-up at any particular time. Dad does move body, then later Josh rents car to relocate body?

I really think he thought about killing her and getting rid of the body before. I just don't think he thought about how to cover for the time it would take.

Susan went to church, walked home with friends.
JP made pancakes and eggs for supper, rarely cooked.
Friend was over to help Susan with crocheting project.
Friend left at 5 pm.
JP took sons sledding in dark at 5:30pm.
Neighbor saw JP come home at 8:30pm
Neighbor heard JP's van's security going off in garage at 11:45pm.

Monday, Dec 7, 2009
JP left for a camping trip at 12:30 am Monday morning with sons.
JP and Susan do not show up for work.
Sons are not at babysitters.
Relatives are called.
Concerned relatives call LE, who break a window for wellness search.
Friend calls JP cell phone at 3pm
Another friend contacts JP by cell phone at 4pm.
JP arrives home at 5pm.

Tuesday, December 8th
JP calls Susan's dad and tells him Susan is missing.
LE takes van.
JP rents a car and leaves for 24 hours.

Wednesday, December 9th
JP comes back home?
Did he take sons for 24 hours?
Where was he?
Police spent two hours removing items from the Powell home.
Police say Josh Powell is not a suspect at this time

Thursday, December 10
Police searched the Simpson Spring Recreation Area and found no sign of Josh Powell's campsite.
Josh Powell speaks briefly with reporters

Friday, December 11
Police stil have no arrests and said Josh Powell is a person of interest

Saturday, December 12:
Susan Powell's father, Charles Cox, traveled to Utah to help search for his daughter.
Josh Powell's family held a press conference and Josh Powell stands silenty with them.
Community members pass out fliers with pictures of Susan Powell.

Suppose to of said he would talk to her later.
JP and sons staying in Steve Powell's house in a GATED
community.
Steve Powell father of Josh defends son in interview.
John Hellewell who is a neighbor of the Powell's found out about the trip Sunday when Josh called him. His first concern was to find someone to "pet sit" his birds.

Chuck Cox: A report on the investigation. The investigation is proceeding. Police are actively looking at all possibilities and every tip. Still no cooperation or help from Josh. The move to Washington has not reduced the determination of the WVPD. If anything it provides more determination and more law enforcement officers... because we have law enforcement in Washington State also. Some of the forensics have been completed some have not, police can not comment on specifics as it could impact the ongoing investigation. We are still confident that Susan will be found, and very hopeful that she will be found alive. We still need your support and prayers. Not much else to do except pray for Susan and those searching for her. Pray for those in Haiti and others suffering loss and uncertainty. Make sure that people know she is still missing and make sure no one gives up hope

LOL, you are so terrific, WSers! On the ring thing; I once joined a spiritual group, well, actually the same one we have discussed here a bit, and noticed many many people with no wedding ring !! I am big on the wedding ring to the death thing, so I started asking people-In this highly marriage-centered group, why do so many go without rings? The answer: We don't really need them, we know we are married. There were many sub-rules and unspoken guidelines about appearance, jewelry-wearing, etc. I never caught on to all of them and finally I stopped asking stuff like that.

Every parent's worst nightmare and who knows how long it will be until Susan is found. He seems like such a gentle man. Everytime I see him, I want to hug him. On Saturday @ 5pm - Sunday @ 5pm, her friends and family are having a special prayer and fasting for Susan and her family. I can't even imagine the raw pain their hearts must feel. It's really hard to watch good people suffer.

(bbm) Yes, like this quote (in video I posted above) from early in the investigation by Charles Cox,

"I don't push (Josh) because he doesn't like to be pushed... So I am waiting for him to decide he's willing to talk some more."

Most FIL's would be threatening to wring his sniveling, scrawny $%$#^& neck!! :furious:

Makes ya wonder just what happened when JP felt someone was "pushing" him in the past... and what about arrest, do we know any more about that?

Maybe the generator is of the noisy variety and he took it to cover the sound of the crime.

Not to sound like a braggart, but DH is one of the top generator technicians for CAT in our state (won CAT Field Service Person of the Year Award a couple years ago) and he is very perplexed as to why some one would test it in the middle of the night away from home. He said that many times he is called out for warranty work on brand new just-out-of-the-box generators that will not start/run, so testing it in the woods makes no sense to him. Of course if we knew the brand, dh could tell us the decibels and KW and what exactly it could power up. Most portable generators are extremely noisy (at least the less inexpensive ones are), but who needs a generator to make smores and who in their right mind takes two little boys to test a generator in the middle of the night in the dead of winter?

Obviously JP is lying about WHY he took the generator out in the middle of the night & that is something I'm sure we can all agree on!
