<snipped>

If you ever have reason to go into mining areas, let me know. I am most interested in Utah and Juab counties. Especially Eureka/Tintic Junction. If you take UT-36 to get there, you go right past Pony Express/Simpson Springs. I am hoping for the "truth in every lie" to hold up here.

The problem is that I personally think she is in a mine. That is the areas I am targeting. Josh couldn't have dug a hole in December... I don't think he would have just put her in water or out in the desert. I am guessing mines are not a public search area. Though, the area around them certainly could be. (I also don't believe that STG does mine searches?) What we need is for Josh's family and friends to tell us areas he went to and was familiar with and do public searches there. Has Chris, or anyone else tried to contact Josh's sister/brother in law to see if they know of anywhere south of West Valley that Josh would have been familiar with?

I was in the soldier canyon area last weekend which I believe is on UT-36. I passed plenty of mines but I dont believe he could have got to them in that weather. I have also been to the Vernon area

Has there been a timeline established for the events of that night and the next day? Southern Utah is only 6 hours away and it stays relatively warm there so he could have easily dug a grave in that area. Also I know there has been a lot of focus on the mines, was this ever confirmed or was it a rumor?

You all are so wonderful. I wish you all the best luck and prayers that she is found.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I check this thread every day hoping for news.

I, too, think she is probably in a mine.

Why can't the police come up with SOMETHING?!

He WOULD have had time when he rented the car and was gone for 24 hours... Though that would be over 1,000 miles which would be more than "several hundred" in my opinion.

However, I am going to make an assumption with no factual information...and say I don't think Susan had that much dental work. I guess it's possible she did in the back, but she had gorgeous teeth.

I heard somewhere that he only ran the car for 200 miles. I'll look for the link. That's why I think he only checked on her, and didn't move her further as that would require a lot more mileage

eta;

Okay here it is, he went several miles, so does that mean about 300 miles.

"It looks like there were several hundred miles driven," West Valley Police Capt. Tom McLachlan told the Deseret News.

I would assume the car rental place counted miles on their cars during check out and check in

I can't see JP doing a marathon car ride like Steven Koecher did; especially with children in the car, unless he had someone to watch the kids.?...and I don't think SP had bridge work either, but of course, not for sure. I'm sure LE has a pretty good time line from the info they have gleaned.

JP should have had pressure put on him in the beginning, but instead he was coddled and even her family said to not focus on him. Big mistake in hindsight. JMO

Are they even looking? I hopefully thought that once the snow melted LE would find her pretty quick. We have about 90 days before the snow will fall again (we've had snow here in late October) and here we go again for another season.

Will Susan ever be found :(

On the prayers for Susan Powell facebook discussion wall they talk about that they raised enough money to buy equipment to search the mines. That's wonderful news.

Whoa, that's big if you ask me. How the heck do they search mines anyway? Anyone know? Since she has not yet been located, the mines seem like an excellent place to be looking, although I have to confess, I have these images of what the mines might be like, but no true idea.

Any word as to how soon they will be able to begin this searching of the mines?

To get an idea of them, you can look on the search engines under mine shaft. There are an amazing number of images, and I would expect the ones in Utah to mostly be barred, but others look like cisterns or wells and they might be covered over with boards.

Some of them were amazing networks of underground shafts going off in several directions, and I know of one that was 12 stories below ground.

I couldn't find anything online that would jump out as suitable for search equipment, so just a guess: infra-red cameras on long cables with some remote controllable capabilities would be a start. I know the early reports were that they were searching the mines from the beginning.

In the last search about three weeks ago, some mine search teams searched two mines, or tried to. Someone had dropped burning wood down one of the mines and it was still smoldering, sucking up all the oxygen. The mine guy had to come back up.

See [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxDqnneCBew"]here[/ame] for a video of that search.

According to the Facebook group, the mine teams wanted to buy a CCTV camera and wireless transmitter and receiver to lower down into mine shafts that are too dangerous for people to go into. This transmitter relays images up to laptops above ground, giving the searchers a good idea of what exactly is down there and what mine conditions are like.

I think the equipment was supposed to arrive today and then they'll likely be making plans to search as soon as possible. They have done a lot of research and chosen some mines that are good candidates for hiding things.

I listened to the broadcast and this is what I gleaned from it:

First I want to say I did not hear Tricia. Maybe she was just on during the other case, of which I did not listen.
Also, a few times I found it interesting that one of the hosts did not seem to be familiar with the facts. Like: which child was oldest--or asking the question if SP & JP were married upon moving to Utah. ??? WTH? LDS case here. Neither did I hear anyone call in or talk about that happening.

Josh did buy a prepaid phone at Walmart since LE confiscated his.

Jennifer did not recall seeing her cell phone at scene; just keys and purse.

Van was towed by LE on Tuesday the 8th; not the 9th which IIRC was stated in the media.

Josh quit attending church only a year after they moved to Utah.

Susan made comment of not being accustom to Utah Mormon ways to KH after they first met. Did not how to can, garden, etc.

Susan talked about divorce---and to a divorce attorney back in the summer of '08.

They were invited over to Kiirsi's frequently for dinner because of Susan not being able to provide a proper diet for the children. (diarrhea) You know, I think JP found a way to sponge anyway he could---even if using the kids health!!!!! He was a good father when he "chose" to be. If something else became his focus, the children were pretty much left to Susan.

At one time, JP tried to bargain w/SP re: church attendance. He would go one time a month IF she did not go one time a month. SP stopped compromising.

Jovanna CALLED Josh about returning the yarn that night. This is huge.....I think. I was under the impression she discussed bringing the yarn back later as she left the house when JP was leaving for "sledding".
If she called? What time??????? I'm sure she would have asked about how SP was feeling.

When ask if there were any searches being done, Kiirsi stated that LE is keeping SP's case in the forefront and anytime the FB group receives tips--it is immediately turned over to LE. No mention of searches or the money raised for mine searches.

Mention of the foundation to help info women about DV and be there for other MP families. When ask about the churches involvement right after her disappearance and DV awareness, KH stated that grief counselors were provided.

If anyone else was able to take some more from this, please post.

What do you mean she couldn't provide a proper diet for the children and they had to eat at their friends house? I'm confused.

I found this article while surfing the internet that I thought was very interesting. The writer is worried about the children's safety, I have always wondered why haven't Susan's parents filed for legal custody?

"The only ones that really know the truth are the boys. They are in danger. They were there with Josh. Josh knows this. Unless he gave them something to sleep, they may have seen something. At the least they heard an argument. He is keeping the boys away from the relatives, as he is afraid that one of the boys heard or knows something. None of this is normal and someone has to step in. He is controlling all the moves. Separation is the key."

The kids are so young and it is interesting that abusers always know how to shape a child's mind at ages 2 and 4 or 5 into their reality of events. As an example when a child says I miss my mommy this type of person is the only one to comfort and change the childs memory of events. Over time it is similar to brain washing.

I am so happy to hear this. Gives me hope and realization that someone is physically looking for her.

What do you mean she couldn't provide a proper diet for the children and they had to eat at their friends house? I'm confused.

Josh would not give Susan enough money to buy proper groceries for the family. She was told to grow veggies in her garden. She complained that the kids were getting sick because they were only eating fruits and veggies; hence, KH invited them over to dinner for a more stable diet to insure better nutrition.

PS. That was just my quip about JP sponging.

Someone would have to prove neglect or some type of endangerment for the boys to be removed from Josh. WA, from my understanding is only the state without a grandparent rights. I am now worried that the children will not be placed in public schools because of JP's paranoia. I would be willing to bet the children are not left alone with other playmates anywhere. I don't know if psychological exams are mandatory for entrance into schools nowadays, but I'd love the results if little sons were to take part in one and also an aptitude test. JMO
