UT - Susan Powell, 28, West Valley City, 6 Dec 2009 #7

I haven't forgotten about you Susan.

I was surprised to check in here and not see any activity. Anything going on?

I just heard from a neighbor of Josh/his dad that the Powells now have THREE minivans in varying shades of blue.

If this is true, wow...talk about trying to confuse and evade! I can think of no other reason for this than to purposely stop people from following them and/or noticing them or trying to hide where they're going.

Heard through the grapevine that little son will be going to public kindergarten this fall. So glad he will have a chance to socialize without papa hanging around. Poor little kid must feel awfully suffocated and thirsting for free reign with a little buddy.

Have not posted here in a long time, but drop in here and there to see if there's any news about Susan. I'm sad to see things so quiet. Sad also to see a member banned.

I'm really surprised that all this time has gone by and there has been no arrest. I was sure in the beginning that this case would be one of those brought to trial -- with or without a body. Unless she's eventually found, I fear that he will never be brought to trial.

May those boys be surrounded by peace. May the memory of their mother's smell and warmth and touch never fade from their lives.

Thanks Ruby for bringing this over about the body found, We can hope can't we :(

Every time I read about a body discovered my heart sinks. We would all like to know that Susan is alive and well somewhere; if only wishing would make it so.

How sad that there are so many bodies discovered. Is the answer more stringent application of existing laws? Clearly 'Do unto others...' isn't working. :(

Woman's body found in Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. (ABC 4 News) - A woman's body has been found near Laramie, Wyoming.

Albany County Sheriff's Office investigators say the body was found on a ranch.

According to investigators, the body belongs to a woman in her 30s, about 5 feet tall with short, light brown hair.

Police believe the body has been there for at least 6 to 12 months.

ABC 4 has learned that Wyoming authorities are in contact with West Valley City police, because of the Susan Powell investigation.

Powell has been missing since Sunday December 7, 2009. Friends and co-workers reported her missing the next day when she did not show for work.

Albany County spokeman, Lt. Garcia, told ABC 4 News that the body was found on September 9th 14 miles northeast of Laramie on the Warren Livestock Ranch by a sheep herder. Garcia said that the body may have been on the ranch since last fall or winter or possibly even spring, and that there was nothing found with the body that could to identify her.

Garcia said that no cause of death has been determined, and the Albany County Sheriff's Office was being assisted by the Air Force base in Cheyenne along with the University of Wyoming.

Investigators hope to identify the body using dental records, which could take 2-6 weeks.

How tall was Susan?

Susan was 5'4.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't think there is even a chance this is Susan. Unless he had an accomplice that he met, who took her body the rest of the way.

I-80 actually gets CLOSED frequently during the winter because the snow and ice get so bad on this route through Wyoming. They have gates that they simply shut. One of them is right at Laramie. Given the weather in Utah at that point, there is a very good chance I-80 was closed or very ugly. I do know there WAS an ugly bus/semi accident on December 6th, which killed the bus driver. This was due to ice.

Even with 24 hours, if he went when he rented the vehicle...I do not think he could have driven anything without 4 wheel drive or chains up there. Even with that, you would end up going about 20MPH. Which would turn that 6-8 hour drive (an estimate depending on the route you take, without weather conditions slowing you down) into FAR longer.

You would be taking a HUGE unneeded risk by going to Wyoming. Getting stuck, crashing, having to go 20MPH the whole way. I think there is about a 1% chance this is Susan and if it is, I am 99% sure he had another person helping him. I firmly believe Susan is in Utah or one of the other surrounding states, or there is someone else going down with Josh.

Here are a couple things about the weather in December 2009, I'm sure someone with more time can find something specific to December 6th/7th when she went missing or December 9th/10th when he rented the car. But this is a pretty good general idea. I will look more later if no one else has.

I'm in total turmoil right now. I pray that it's Susan, and I pray that it isn't Susan.

I know one thing for certain, I pray for Susan's loved ones and friends, I'm certain that the wait is excruciating for them at this time.

May answers come quickly.

I am honored to be an admin on the Where Is Susan Powell? Facebook page. This is what I posted there:
Whenever I hear this stuff, part of me wants it to be Susan and the other part doesn't. Closure and an arrest would be great, but that would mean Susan is really dead :(
It's true. My heart breaks for her family, especially her little boys. The only consolation I will have if this is her is that her parents might get a little bit of closure.

Josh powell said he left at 12:00 am with the boys correct (if he can be believed) and Laramie WY is about 6 hour drive from WV, UT. It said the body was found outside of Laramie so time could fluctuate a little give or take.

Josh did not return home from the camping trip until around 5:00 pm the next day (is that right) that is 17 hrs if he is telling the truth of when he left, it could be done even in horrible weather .....
