Interesting piece of information; Theodore’s sister was a previously unidentified Jane Doe. She was found in September 2017, but wasn’t identified until January 2020 as per her obituary.

Latoya Ramona Wyasket

Latoya Ramona Wyasket, age 36, of Ft. Duchesne and Ogden, was discovered deceased on September 27, 2017, in Ogden. She had been missing for months prior to that, but was only positively identified January 23, 2020, after extensive DNA testing.

I couldn’t find a thread for Theodore, nor could I find any previous threads regarding Latoya or the Unidentified Jane Doe she turned out to be.

I thought I’d create a thread and see if us sleuthers could help this family out!

I noticed this John Doe wasn’t found with tobacco but no rolling papers or pipe…

Tobacco is considered a sacred medicine. In fact, it’s known as the eastern direction in the medicine wheel.

If the tobacco wasn’t for smoking, it would explain why he was found with a lighter and the tobacco only.

Oops, my apologies. Clearly it’s almost sleep time.

It came up in my search, I couldn’t figure out why because I had no access to the newspaper. Thank you!!

As is the unfortunate case with indigenous children, it looks like some of them if not all of them were removed from their parents care at one point. This is as per the obit of his other sister which states she was raised by folks other than her birth parents. (Interesting that Theodore is not listed at all in her obit, but he is listed in his other sister’s obit as surviving her)

If there was displacement and a disturbance to the family structure, he could have gone to do his own thing.

Especially if the folks who raised them were religious. There’s a lot of hurt and resentment from some indigenous folks. There was a concerted effort to eradicate their culture and forced compliance to accept Christianity.

As an aside; I feel personally connected to this case because I have gotten to understand the complex tapestry that is the displacement and genocide of the indigenous peoples and especially their children.

I have a dear friend whom is affected by this deeply, and her grandfather is a bishop to this day. Over time as we became very close friends I got to understand the specifics of this certain type of intergenerational trauma. The old scars on her grandfathers back from being beaten into submission, and her confusion as to why he continues to be a Christian to this day. And a bishop no less!

(It looks like Theodore’s grandma was heavily involved in the church).

Intergenerational trauma is real and has lasting effects.

I hope this family can heal and I hope we can find Theodore.
