Aside from the height being three inches off, and no mention of scars, this appears to be pretty close to David Arthur Stack

* His Age (18) is within range (17-22)
* He has dark medium-length hair, as does the UID.
* His eye color (brown) matches.
* His DLC (June 1976) matches perfectly (UID found 10-Jun-76).
* The location (Wendover UT) is right along the route that one would take going from Colorado to Berkeley or Truckee (Northern California)

Andy Joe Lepley went missing in Colorado on May 30th of 1976. The circumstances of his disappearance lead me to believe he wasn't alive long enough to make it nearly two weeks and all the way to Wendover, but stranger things have happened.
His height is spot on, but his Charley profile doesn't have a color photo or his eye/hair color listed. Any thoughts?

I was working on this as a possible match also! David does have a scar on his forehead and on his left arm near the elbow. I think the NCMEC sketch and David are pretty close. Note the sketch has shorter hair, but the description is shoulder length.

Here is David's NamUs profile:

I had not seen that recon before, but it certainly makes a stronger case for David Stack.

I don't think I ever submitted this one. Did you, HoustonMom?

Yes, I sent it to Colorado Bureau of Investigation by e-mail. If you wanted to call Utah, go ahead. I don't do phone calls.

Here is a link to the suggest route between Broomfield, CO and Truckee, CA. Wendover sits on 80 at the border of Utah and Nevada.

I think he looks like David Stack.

Very strong resemblance to Stack for sure, and everything fits.

Brian Page seems less likely due to circumstances, but possible.

I went ahead and sent an e-mail to Jerry Brown, asking if there is any possible way to compare David Stack to this John Doe.

Looking at what identifiers are available, there may be a problem.

* There is DNA for David Stack, but none for the John Doe.
* And there are fingerprints and dentals for the John Doe, but none of either for Stack.

Obviously, these two cases couldn't have been compared by the automated systems NCIC, CODIS, or AFIS.

But we might be at a standstill, since there are no other means of comparison, unless they can come up with a better photo of him to compare facial anomalies, as was the case with Paulette Jaster.

I am thinking the blood type O+ and the presence of hammer toes on David would be good. How long does it take for hammer toes to develop? Would he have had them before he left home or developed them while hitchhiking? An open mouth smile on David may also help. As a last resort, they would have to get DNA on John Doe....

Any word back CarlK? None on my end....

I sent an e-mail to Detective in Toole, Utah to assure he was contacted about this possible match. I included a link to this thread.

Dentals now available for Stack and will be compared per Utah ME office.
