DoeNet is reporting that the John Doe has been confirmed to be David Stack.

For now, I am flagging this as Identified because it isn't clear whether LE stumbled upon these two cases before or after Houston Mom's submission. I was on to this three years ago, but I can't claim the match because I didn't call it in.

That was a mistake. I messed up on his first name (David, not Robert). I corrected it (both in my post and in your reply).

I know, it was just kind of cute. I think that's where my brain would have also gone with the last name Stack.

Glad he got his name back, hopefully they can solve his murder now.

"DNA confirms missing New Milford teen was killed in Utah"

The detectives soon found a possible match between the dental records of John Doe and Stack. Authorities exhumed the body on May 12 to collect DNA samples for comparison, and the testing results were revealed Monday, Wimmer said.

Wimmer is pleased the case has made progress after nearly four decades, but he said it’s not yet closed.

“Even though the identification has been made, we still have an unsolved homicide,” he said. “We still have a lot of legwork.

For understandable but still dispiriting reasons, the (cis) boys and men who lost their lives hitchhiking are oft overlooked by the wider public and media. RIP, Mister Stack.
