Layton man missing after leaving home without medications; Silver Alert issued

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a 56-year-old Layton man who suffers from multiple medical conditions.

Officials with the Layton City Police Department said Travis Hicks was last seen at his home in Layton around 6 a.m. Monday.

“It has been reported that Mr. Hicks has a traumatic brain injury, paranoid schizophrenia, diabetes, and depression,” stated a press release from the agency Tuesday evening.

Police said Hicks stated that he was going to a nearby gas station to get a drink. He took his phone along with him, but no medications.

Travis Hicks, who was last seen wearing a dark blue-and-gray pullover wool poncho, green T-shirt, black Adidas shorts and neon green shoes, told family members that he was going to a nearby gas station to get a drink around 6 a.m., police said.

While Hicks did bring his cell phone with him, police said they located the phone on the side of the road at approximately 1950 E. Highway 193 in Layton.

Found safe in Kansas!

A Silver Alert issued for a 56-year-old Layton man last seen Monday morning has been canceled, and he is being reunited with his family, police said.

"We're glad to report that the subject of our Silver Alert, Mr. Travis Hicks, has been found safe in Kansas. He made it there on his own and is being reunited with family," Layton Police tweeted Wednesday.
