A Utah truck driver accused of keeping two women as sex slaves in his semitrailer as he traveled the country had four more victims, federal prosecutors said in court documents.

Some of the new accusations against defendant Timothy Jay Vafeades date back 20 years.

Vafeades met one of the women when he was a hospice patient and married her. He began assaulting her after she agreed to go to Utah with him and continued until she escaped about six months later, the documents state.

Vafeades is accused of meeting another woman while she worked at a retail store and inviting her to join him in his truck for more than a week in 2005, then keeping her on board for about three months before she got away.

In the other two new cases, Vafeades assaulted women he met at a college and online, authorities said.

Minnesota state troopers should not have taken Timothy Jay Vafeades into custody last year for violating a protective order because it was no longer valid, attorney Vanessa Ramos argued during a court hearing.

She said the protective order issued in 1999 only applied when the 19-year-old woman was a child, and its terms didn't call for an arrest. Ramos cited the issue while asking a judge to toss unspecified evidence collected during the arrest.

U.S. District Judge David Nuffer did not immediately rule on the motion.

Trial set for truck driver accused of keeping sex slaves

Court records show that a judge scheduled an April 2016 trial date for Timothy Jay Vafeades (VAH-fee-ah-deez) during a Monday hearing.

The trial is set to last three weeks.

Utah man known as the "Vampire Truck Driver" pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to a sex slavery case where he admitted to transporting women across state lines for months while sexually assaulting them, changed his plea weeks before a jury trial was set to begin.

Timothy Jay Vafeades, 56, pleaded guilty in U.S. District federal court to two counts out of six in an indictment from 2014. Two of the counts were for transportation for illegal sexual activity.The plea agreement, accepted by the judge on Thursday morning in Salt Lake City carries with it a possible sentence of 20 years in prison. In May Vafeades also pleaded guilty to count 5, transportation of child pornography. Vafeades will be sentenced in November.

Does anyone know or have an article about the abuse charge he received in Iowa in 2012. Trying to find out what town this occurred in Iowa. Because of the child porn I was wondering if there might be any connection to the kidnapping and death of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook.

check the internet, it may be out there. I did searches on him when he got arrested and there were lots of article on him. If not, I can check with my friend, see if she knows anything. I know they are looking at a lot of cases just to see if any thing fits.

Thanks, I spent a couple of hours on the internet last night all I could find was that a domestic abuse incident happened in Iowa in July 2012. Trying to find his criminal record without paying for services I found something about a criminal/traffic violation that happened on 7/13/2012. He had to pay a fine. The two cousins were snatched from Myers Park one that day. Considering he had an abundance of child porn I thought I would try to find out what town this incident took place.
