Jeskie said because Uta was under water for long period of time after her death, it's possible some of that DNA washed away. #walltrial

Jeskie said because it was a low level of DNA, the test was inconclusive. Wall could not be included nor excluded as a match. #walltrial

When prosecution asked if it's rare for female to have male DNA under her fingernails, she said yes, it is rare. #walltrial

Another spot on white pillowcase showed three possible contributors (neither major or minor) for Uta, Nils and Johnny Wall. #walltrial

Defense: Because paternal DNA is the same - that means multiple males in one family could all be possible contributors. #walltrial

Jeskie agrees it's possible that if all four children's DNA is in a sample, Johnny would be tested as a possible contributor #walltrial

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865623315/John-Wall-says-ex-wife-hit-him-hours-before-she-was-found-dead.html

Hours before his ex-wife was found dead, Johnny Wall told attorneys the woman hit him after he found her inside his garage and then chased her down.

He said he believed she was at his home looking for poisoned coffee grounds.

His story was part of three hours of videotaped depositions from March 22, 2013, that prosecutors played for jurors Tuesday.

...

Wall claimed von Schwedler wanted an old coffee bag — possibly because she had poisoned the coffee with drugs she obtained at work that he believes caused his second wife to miscarriage twice.

He chased after her as she ran down the driveway, he said.

"I tried to grab her hand. She turned around and hit me in the face," Wall testified.

But Wall said he couldn't remember where in the face he was hit, if he was hit with her hand or an object or if it caused the scratch below his eye that police later found — something the prosecutor conducting the interview said she had a hard time believing.

I find it very difficult to believe that John Wall thought that his ex wife was responsible for poisoning coffee beans, causing his 2nd wife to miscarry, left the bag of beans lying around his house and never notified the authorities. Uh Huh! Normal reaction...not!

I also find it very difficult to believe the story he tells about the confrontation in the driveway. If someone struck me in the face, I would know if they were empty handed and where the first blow landed. Maybe by the 2nd or 3rd blow, you might be groggy, but I am sure you would notice the 1st. This sounds as if he was trying to explain away injuries she inflicted trying to fight him off during her murder. :(

Prosecution rests its case against Utah man accused of killing his ex-wife

Defense attorney G. Fred Metos argued during his motion for a directed verdict that a medical examiner was unable to rule von Schwedler's death a homicide, there was insufficient DNA evidence to put Wall at the death scene, and a proposed scenario for how Wall would have forcefully injected his ex-wife with drugs "is just simply unreasonable and not believable."

But the judge ruled against Metos, allowing the trial to continue.

With that, Metos called two witnesses Thursday: a crime scene technician who photographed the scene, and a private investigator.

John Brickman Wall's Ex-wife Likely Wasn't Murdered: Defense Expert

"I don't think I've seen a case of drugs, a knife and drowning," said Melinek. "It's incredibly rare to unheard of."

But under questioning from prosecutor Anna Rossi, she acknowledged that suicides by drowning in the bathtub are also rare.

Melinek's analysis nevertheless painted a very different picture of the death, one in which von Schwedler scattered pills as she searched for medication to calm herself and smeared blood in the bathroom while lowering herself into the tub, holding a beloved photo album and dropping a small knife in the water.
