That really seems to fit but I wonder why someone would dump his body and not take the money? Could he have sold the car for $3000 and the person he sold it to was the one seen driving the car in Vernal? He did not have his name on the car registration since he just bought it himself, so the car sale could be an illegal sale or to someone else that also didn't plan to register it. Maybe he was alive when the person who bought the car last saw him? There is nothing on NAMUS that say this was a homicide, although the location and presence of a bat seem suspicious. MOO.

Considering he left San Diego in some kind of upset, and he seems to like the outdoors, I think suicide is on the table.

That's a good thought about selling the car to somebody.

Added: Sold the car to somebody, had them drop him somewhere he could walk to a remote location. The photos of the area make it look very beautiful.

I agree it's a beautiful place. It's remote but it's not far from HWY 40. There are hotels about 10 miles away on HWY 40 or there is a Marina with lodging on the other side of the reservoir. He could have sold the car at the Marina or at a hotel and then hitchhiked or walked to the location. This could be suicide or death by natural causes from exposure to the elements. He might have carried the bat for protection if he wasn't planning to die there. Maybe he was only planning to get away for a little while and go off grid but it went wrong quickly in the wilderness? He really wasn't dressed properly for any extreme elements though. I can't think of how or why a suicidal person would have a baseball bat... unless maybe it's a sentimental possession or something like that?

Unless the bat was a murder weapon, it's hard to explain. And the skeletal remains apparently don't show signs of a vicious beating.

I'm also thinking Jac. The clothing seems to fit. The lifestyle seems to fit. I wouldn't be surprised if he had $3000 on him at any given time. I'm going to continue to look around and see if I can find additional photos.

Looks like the UID and Jac are no longer in NamUs. There is also an obit for Jac with a death date of Aug 8, 2018

I'm not sure that's the same Jac Arnold in the obituary. Jac was from San Dieg0-though maybe his family is from Utah. Lots of Mormon families have California connections.

But his page is definitely no longer available. Likewise the unidentified person's page.
