Four stabbing victims were counted by troopers at the scene, officials said. A 39-year-old woman later died from her injuries. A dog that was also stabbed died at the scene.

Three more people were taken to a hospital close-by for medical treatment.

A man accused of stabbing four people on I-495 over the weekend, killing one, was reportedly a foreign service officer:

A Virginia State trooper was called to the scene for a report of a road rage incident. When the trooper arrived on scene, he was confronted by a male suspect, who was carrying a knife. The trooper then shot the suspect in self-defense.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Jared Llamado was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The trooper was not injured.

A State Department spokesperson issued a statement to FOX 5, saying:

"We are aware of the tragic incident that involved a Foreign Service Officer and occurred on Sunday, March 1, in Fairfax County, Virginia.

We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.

As this is an ongoing investigation being led by the Virginia State Police, we refer you to them for details about the incident."

Wow, a full Foreign Service Officer?

Those positions are very difficult to obtain. In the past, one needed to add "Ivy Leaguer" to stellar scores. Even today, I would not be surprised if they are still Ivy League heavy as olde traditions can die hard.

That aside.....

Foreign Service Officers have a very difficult "up or out" screening after 5 years in. Even sharp people with cool and pertinent degrees from Ivy League places can still be "outed". Some have gone unhinged at the 5 year mark ala Bradford Bishop.
