Wondering where she worked in relation to the theatre. Also, from Google satellite view, the place that looks most like where her car was parked (from the photo) is down near those apartments. It's the only thing that looks close to correct with the tree, landscape, and other cars. With the scent purportedly headed that way, she may know someone there and this could be a voluntary type thing. Hope so anyway.

An article states that she works less than half a mile from the Carmike theater... in a consignment store...

IIRC...

I am very, very interested to hear something about her family and home life. Did she live with both parents? Any siblings?

The only family info I could glean so far is her dad's name is Paul Brown... different from Alexis' last name...

There could be various reasons for that...

Her aunt's name is Angela Taylor...

Married name?

Or sister to Alexis' mom?...

???

I'm in Southern Va, and many counties in this area are adopting a new schedule this year of going back Aug 12 and getting out before Memorial Day. I believe Fairfax still follows the "Kings Dominion" Law though of going after Labor Day?

It seemed weird to me that the aunt was "excited" that the car was found. If my 17 year old daughter was missing this would be some of the worst news I could receive, except that they'd found her dead of course. It isn't good news at all. Very strange...

I was thinking the same thing...

Until I realized it is only that I have been following so many WS cases that I intuitively know... there is a big chance that there is something quite wrong when the car is found first... with relatively no information about the whereabouts of the missing person...

But... that, of course, is not a hard and fast rule...

So... I still have my fingers crossed...:crossfingers:

From NBC affiliate twitter: Rio Hill Apartment resident says he saw missing teen's car in Carmike parking lot Monday at 10 AM.

Good info to have. That's 40 unaccounted for hours for the vehicle.

:thumb: Good math, Jo!

OT but there is some weird, conflicting info about age of consent in Virginia. I am finding that it is 15 on some sites, 17 on others and that for an adult to have sex with a 15-year old is a misdemeanor. That does not sound right...anyone know for sure?

I remember at least one other case where the age(s) of consent were varied depending on certain circumstances... and it was very difficult to get a concrete age limit down...

It drove us crazy....

Wonder what made her change her mind...

Or made her state something other than her true intentions?

:waitasec:

Maybe it was never her intention or perhaps she was taking someone along with her and there to pick them up and something changes.

Ok, so now we know that the gas station is in Lovingston. That's more on the way to Charlottesville and the Carmike theater. Seems odd to head in that direction if she were going to Lynchburg.

I don't think she was ever "burg bound".

Map looks to me like Lovingston is where she would have gone onto route 29 whether she was planning to go south to Lynchburg or north to Charlottesville. http://goo.gl/maps/o2fho

Is that not correct?

Maybe. Depends on where here starting point was. Do we know the address of the house? Has that been in MSM?

No, I haven't seen an address and didn't try to sleuth it. I just used Shipman. It's not very far off Route 29. Close enough that going via Lovingston for gas might make sense even if there were shorter back roads.

I ALMOST did it, then I saw that she did and I felt much better. :seeya:
