VA VA - Aron Silverman, 17, Norfolk, 5 June 1993

Aron's case just popped in my head and I realized he went missing exactly 24 years ago today.

Aron was my uncle. Some of the reports mention Aron’s brother, who talked about the go-go dancer. That is my dad. I don’t know much about Aron, and I never got to meet him. To this day my dad and grandma still get letters from people thinking about reopening the case. I don’t have much to add to the discussion, but I thought I’d say something. It’s pretty weird seeing people talk about a family member like this.

Thank you for popping in. We're a group of amateur sleuths who want to help find missing people. I apologize if we seem a little insensitive. Myself, I try to comment as if friends and family of the missing are reading.

I'm sorry for what your family is going through. Feel free to add anything to the discussion should anything arise, we're happy to help if we can.

Thank you. I don’t like to bring up Aron around my family much, especially my grandmother. It often makes them emotional. I sometimes look online to see what other people have to say about the case, and it’s both strange and cool to see people interested in my uncle. I don’t know if my family will ever get closure, and until then he seems to remain a memory in the back of our heads.

So Aron and I are about the same age, both love the Dead. At that time it would have been nothing for me, spur of the moment, to hop into a friends car to go to a dead show. Without saying anything to anybody. June 5, 1993 The Grateful Dead played Giants Stadium in New Jersey. I think it is VERY possible he headed over there. About that time (1993) I was just learning about "the 12 tribes" I mean I didn't know much but I knew to run very fast in the other direction if their bus came by. I must say when i looked at him that was the 1st thing I thought "12 tribes maybe". Then after someone saying that his mother said what she said. I do believe it is VERY possible. I'll look into seeing if I can't find if they "12 tribes" where spotted at that show. If that is the case he may be very much alive.

Hey Alex. 1st I am very sorry for your loss. Thank you for speaking up. I was going to suggest maybe having your Dad look through "12 Tribes" photos. I feel like your Uncle Aron has a pretty distinct look, and surely his brother would be able to spot him. I hope didn't over step. Best

I just read about Aron today.
I assume there are still people out there who have tips. Maybe they just need to read about the case and think back to their friendship circle in the 90's. Information could always be given anonymously to the Norfolk police department.

If he's out there safe, it's never too late to contact law enforcement to let them know or to contact your family again.

Yes, the fact that they couldn't find that girl seems very odd. Maybe some people were afraid to talk, or maybe no one honestly knew. Maybe if a private investigator had been hired at the time more info could have been found. Now it maybe impossible to solve this unless someone speaks up or he's an unidentified Doe somewhere or his remains are found. Apparently there is family DNA on file for him.

There is a man with the same birthdate and almost the same name (Aaron Silverman vs Aron Silverman) who recently lived in Roaring Spring, PA. I don’t know if it means anything.

A con man was using Aron’s name for a while until federal investigators caught up with him. Other locations listed for the ‘Aaron Silverman’ in Roaring Springs line up with the areas that this man was living in/active in.

Article about the con man.

Only a few possibilities listed in NamUs.

A late teen/young adult male found about 25 miles away. Reported in 2018, but it reads: “Man walking in a wooded area found skeletal remains; he took them home and did not alert police. They were found 20 years later by his ex-wife cleaning out the garage. DBF listed is date law enforcement was made aware of the remains. It is unclear what the exact date was that they were found.” So the remains were found closer to 1998.

Uncertain sex/race femur bone found about 18 miles away.

A male, 16-20 , found about 75 miles away in 2019: Single tibia found in a river.

It truly boggles my mind they never found the girl Aron left the party with, that no one could tell his family who she was. Maybe she's missing, too.
That's my suspicion. Aron and the girl were both intoxicated, Aron had mentioned to her about his dad's boat. I'm willing to bet they went to the waterside or crossed a body of water and had an accident.

btw Aaron is The Charley Project's Missing Person of the Week
