Wow! What a pic! Thanks!

I discovered I was grinning just like she was, simply because her smile is so contagious. What a mood picker-upper that girl has! I'll bet her laugh was a joyful song, too. As they say, she would light up a room!

Now it's making me angry. Who did whatever to our young dreaming girl. Studying, working, being a good daughter and a good friend -- dammit. Her face is glowing in that picture. Just purity and innocence. SMH. Just dammit. grrrrrr

LE is pretty quiet. I was hoping for some movement by now.

Is it normal for it to take this long for a cause of death. I imagine its longer if there Is no outward signs and so they would have to wait for toxicology results.

The FBI is asking for people who might have seen her car en route to Charlotte, NC. So, is LE thinking she or someone else drove her car to Charlotte (or part of the way there) then drove it back to Norfolk to dump it???

Woah. I wonder why they think that. I never would've expected that

Car probably verified not have been there long so it had to be elsewhere. If the perp or perps were picked up on base, got into some scuffle with Ashanti where the cellphone and hair locks were found, the next step was to drive to Charlotte and dispose of her there. The police likely know about when she was killed. Could be right after she left base, on the road to Charlotte or in Charlotte. If perp returned to the area, he likely is local. Who was missing for several days? Right at time Ashanti disappeared.

If she was killed in VB or shortly thereafter, could her body have sat behind that church unnoticed for that many days? I am somewhat familiar with areas near the church but I never ventured that far on that side of the highway from downtown CLT.

Body was found due to odor. No idea how long it takes for decomposition. It would have been accelerated by the temperatures down there.

I had thought that someone forced her into another car but this would be far more straightforward if the person drove down to Charlotte and back in the car. LE likely can find out if a cadaver was in the car and about how long Ashanti was dead. Strange case. Not many murders occur early in the morning. Who was missing that day? And for a few days thereafter. Did Ashanti pick up someon on base , then leave, then something went wrong.? Something happened we know because highly unlikely that she threw away her phone and hair pieces. So something happened to her before 9am or whatever time the Blimpy coworker called the phone. Doubt it happened on base. I still think she left her apt early to meet up with someone and that she left the base for some reason with him. I wish LE told us more. That they think car went to Charlotte and back, means that maybe someone saw the car during that trip.

If Ashanti's car went to Charlotte and back, it's likely they would have to stop for gas at some point

This is all so weird given that the neighbor said the car had been there since Monday. Could it have been there at 4am on Tuesday instead??

I thought they said a landscaper was trimming behind the church and saw the body instead of there being an odor someone noticed, but maybe I missed that part?

There was a news piece that is somewhere on this thread that said the caretaker smelled something and then initially thought it was a dead deer. He went to get another person and when the two of them got closer realized it was a person and not a deer. They then called police.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Like what??? The neighbor where her car was found said it had been there all along. Also that would be a fast trip to NC and back to VA and parked in that neighborhood. But I guess they are thinking that in order to dump the car there he would have had to move her body out of her car and into another one then driven down to NC. So the theory of her car being driven there and back makes sense. And also that means it's someone local to the Hampton Roads area and possibly with ties to Charlotte.

Jumping off your post -- maybe it was a kidnapping for trafficking, and the contact point was in Charlotte. If trafficking, Ashanti would have to have been alive for the trade-off. It could be that she did have a seizure, possibly severe since she was off her meds, and the kidnapper could have panicked & didn't know what to do. Maybe Ashanti died from choking, or a severe injury, during the trip. The kidnapper was not a murderer, and he felt guilty and sorry for what he did and for what happened, so he left her at a place where he figured good people would do the right thing for her and her family. Just a thought, since the church, to me, is such a wildcard.

I sort have to butt in here, Ashanti went to work as normal, she went to gate 1 and due to an incident on camp appeared to turn around and exit gate one and make her way to another gate.

I suppose I would be asking what was the incident on the camp that caused her to turn around exit and use another gate. This case really gets to me as I personally think she was a civilian mixed up in a military situation and I agree with those that think she was left at the church out of guilt and wanting to give respect or peace the best way they knew how.

Just my personal thoughts at this moment in time nothing else they will probably change tomorrow.

I have already changed my mind! Was it Ashanti that drove to the camp in the first place? or just someone who could pass as Ashanti. So is it a possibility she went missing prior to appearing to go to work and someone else with all the correct ID went to camp and access to her id.

Just thoughts

Surveillance cameras at gas stations

It's a trip of around 325 miles and around 5.5 hours, so a fill-up may have been necessary -- but how many gas stations on both sides of the highway would there be, and we don't know what route was taken. There is a fairly obvious one, but who knows what route was taken? That's a tuff one.

With info given, we cannot be sure it was Ashanti who entered the base as, that verification has been made because her ID was scanned at time of entry. So someone with her ID entered the base for certain. It would be very risky for anyone other than a black woman to have used her ID.

Given the time it took from her reported departure from her apartment to the base, it is highly unlikely something happened to her and someone else took her place at the wheel unless the roommate was not telling the truth.

For some reason Ashanti went to work early in regular clothes, and the left the base either alone or with someone. What happened on base in the time she was there is a mystery.

From there, she was relieved of her cellphone and some hair locks. Hard to believe it was done with her consent. Whether she was alive at that point is anyone's guess

If the FBI think it is a real possibility that Ashanti's car was driven to Charlotte and back, they must have good reason. I don't remember if anyone said her car was where it was found for any length of time. It certainly is possible to do a round trip to Charlotte and back in a day, especially with the early start that they had.

When and where Ashanti was murdered is crucial information. Did the perp drive to Charlotte with her corpse in the car? Given the phone and hair thrown out, I doubt Ashanti was s consenting passenger.

Hopefully, some more info is released. Even more hopeful, that there are strong leads to catch her murdeter

I believe LE said that it was def her that drove on to the base. Can't see why someone else would've even bothered going on base if they already had her under their control in some way.

Did LE confirm those locks were hers? I thought they just said friends and family searching found some along with some other items.

I still can't understand why someone would've driven her car to Charlotte to dump her body. Could this have been some sort of desperate crazy person that needed access to a car to get to Charlotte for some reason? That doesn't seem like a great explanation but I guess anything is possible. I am leaning more towards this being random as time goes on. I'd think LE has checked out all coworkers very thoroughly. Given she'd only moved to VB recently, it seems unlikely she would have met very many people beyond coworkers and classmates. I'm sure she had talked to others and obviously customers but not formed enough of a relationship for them to know her schedule. I'd think if she had a stalker of some sort she would've been aware of it.
