Respectfully snipped:

Does anyone at WS know what the step-father does for a living, and how does that play into the child going missing?

And another one says:

Again, did anyone here link to (or report) what the Uncle said, and what was strange about the handwriting?

TIA!

http://www2.wsls.com/sls/news/local/article/amber_alert_still_on_family_speaks_out/75016/

Aveion’s Uncle, Chris Ward, says a note was left behind written on the back of a hospital statement, demanding $10,000.
It had Chris’s name on it, “On the other side of the note it said ‘Nothing personal it is just business. We’ll contact you.“

Friday morning Police issued an Amber Alert for Aveion, looking for a white early 1990’s SUV.

Ward still, however, thinks there are parts to the story that don’t add up.

“I find it hard to believe they tied my neice up, took my nephew, and still had time to write a note with two different hand-writings and get out with nobody seeing them.“

I have no idea of what the step-dad does for a living - although we can only speculate what that comment implies - IMO something of an illegal nature...

I can't seem to find anything on him thru the courts web-site with anything other than traffic offenses. Also tried to do a 'people search' on him (and the mother) with no returns for either of those people living in VA.

One of the comments says that the child has been removed from the home by social services, before...

.... Would love to know if the step-dad is the one who gave a description of these abductors...

He seemed to be very detailed in the descriptions of these guys and something in that is hinky with me. You get hit on the head hard enough that you are passed out for a period of time, but yet he can give this detailed of a description of not one guy...but 3?

He saw them earlier in the day in his yard and in the Food Lion parking lot and apparently spoke to them, asking them to leave. Not to say that it's not hinky, but it wasn't just a quick glance prior to being knocked out.

I believe that this had to do with health reasons - Something led me to believe that this enzyme problem wasn't diagnosed until Aveion was older. Apparently it was believed that he wasn't being fed properly and further testing found it to be an enzyme disorder not fault of the parents

Someone please correct this if I'm wrong.

Right he had seen them earlier...but still to remember that many specific details just seems really off IMO.

ETA:
Maybe I should explain further why I have the opinion that I do.

He sees this crew of 3 outside of his home (or near his home). Has probably watched them for a little while. Something tells him something is up with these guys (or feels they shouldn't be there) and he asks them to move on. Apparently they didn't.

If Mr. Lockett deemed these people 'no good' or in violation of being in the project and/or didn't move on after he had asked them to leave - he should have called the police.

I can see him taking notice and making a few mental facts about these 3 guys...but just can't see him remembering as much detail about all 3 of them as he did.

Which leads me to thinking that maybe he knows exactly who these 3 guys are and just isn't telling LE because it could implicate him in possible nefarious activity.

I guess it's possible that Mr. Lockett is a detailed oriented man. Maybe he's a former security guard or something of that nature...but somehow I just don't see it.

posted on the link above from MBLover:
Under the back yard picture it is written:: "A path behind Jamestown Place goes over a stream and into the back parking lot of a Food Lion, where the suspects are said to have parked when they abducted Aveion Lewis, 2."

Where's the surveillance footage?!

A couple years ago I had a burglary here at my residence. Unfortunately the Roanoke police was of no help. I ended up doing a lot of leg work on my own and found that whoever broke into my house had made a phone call to my home from a payphone shortly before breaking in.

I traveled to all of the payphones near my home and found one at a Food Lion that had the right number. I went into Food Lion and asked the manager if they had surveillance tapes from this specific day.

This is what the manager told me and I will never forget his words... "Ma'am, I'm sorry, Food Lion doesn't deem it necessary to have video surveillance to keep their patrons safe. I am sorry, there are no cameras."

While this is not the same Food Lion, I would expect that all Food Lions (at least in this area) do not have surveillance cameras.

Which brings me to another point - who informed LE of this tidbit of info - that the perps were parked in the FL parking lot? If Mr. Lockett knew this fact he was in violation of not reporting these men to the police when he first saw them.

There are strict rules (however I'm not sure how heavily they are inforced) about 'outsiders' being in the projects and loitering.

If the 4 year old was bound and gagged, surely the child has to have some bit of info about who did it to her. I hope the momma is allowing LE to talk to the child...

  • #129
here is some more stuff to chew on... if there were other children in the apartment when this happened why weren't they bound and gagged? Are they younger than baby A?

This is STRANGE.

  • #130
yes, I would love to know the ages of the other 2 children in the home!!

  • #131
I read, back a few pages, a two year old and an 11 month old.......

  • #132
First report I heard there was Aveion who is 2 and who was taken and a 4 yr old who was bound.

Then that 4 year old changes to a 2 year old (don't know if it was bad reporting on either report or if it was a typo) and all of a sudden an 11 month old pops into the picture as well.

The kidnappers knocked the stepfather unconscious, bound and gagged a girl, ransacked the house and left a ransom note before taking the 2-year-old boy.
Thursday's reported violent abduction of Southeast Roanoke toddler Aveion M. Lewis received national media attention on Friday as police and FBI agents continued searching for him.
He was home with his stepfather, Brandon Lockett, and three siblings when a knock came from the back door of their duplex in Jamestown Place, Lockett said Friday.
As soon as Lockett opened the door, he was knocked unconscious, he said.
"All I felt was just a bam," he said. He said he didn't know what he was hit with.
Lockett, who had a cut on his lip and evident swelling on his face Friday morning, said he woke up in the living room just as his wife, Morgan Lockett, returned home.
They found their 4-year-old girl gagged and bound in a bedroom. Two other children, a 2-year-old girl and an 11-month-old boy, were not harmed.

She is particularly worried about her son's health because he was born premature and has digestive problems. As a result, he doesn't have a lot of fat on his body, and has to be kept warm or his body temperature drops quickly, the family said.

Aveion will be 3yo on Jan. 26th per article in link in a previous post (IIRC, it was a roanoke.com link)

Aha - so there is the 4 yr old, another 2 yr old female and an 11 month old - besides 2 yr. old Aveion

  • #137
so if a group of people broke into the house, knocked step dad out and then bound the 4 year old.. I'm thinking they had no worry of the 11mo talking and little to worry about with the 2yo talking.
Now step daddy, he'd have plenty to worry about because that 2yo could point and say "dada".

Maybe the little ones were early to bed types and Aveion and the 4yo were still awake when everything went down.

My lil guy, who's 10 months goes to bed at 6:30pm and my 6yo goes to bed at 8pm

For those that want to keep up with local Roanoke news:

www.wsls.com (local NBC staton)
www.wdbj7.com (local CBS station)
www.wset.com (while this station is not exactly local [ABC] - it is broadcast from Lynchburg, VA just down the road about 40 minutes from Roanoke)

Three fairly young men push their way into a house, assualt the adult, tie up and gag the only child really old enough to recognize and/or identify them, ransack the house, and then take a two year old with them when leaving.

Now the two year old is being held for a $10,000 ransom. The note is addressed to the mother's brother, Mr. Ward. Mr. Ward is now throwing suspicision (sp?) on the step-dad? What's up with that?

I think the family knows the 3-men and I think Mr. Ward knows the 3-men. This baby should have been recovered by now.

In my mind this is a dangerous situation. If the family identifies the 3 men, will they suffer retaliation from others? Are the other children going to be put at risk?

For now, I'm going with step-dad's story. That could change as more info becomes available. BUT I really do want to know who the last non-family member was to see this child.

These POSs could very well have broken into the house, ransacked it, stolen whatever and left without every seeing little Aveion, kwim?
