A month ago I couldn't access the Virginia court systems anymore - but I see I can with the link you gave above! I'll go & check my other Virginia cases! LOL!

I agree; I’m sure there will be multiple continuances.

It’s wishful thinking on my part, but I hope that he decides to plead guilty, and that her family is spared the ordeal of a trial.

It’s so sad that Bellamy hasn’t been found.

Monday, September 9th:
*Pretrial Motions Hearing (@ 9:30am ET) - VA – Bellamy Malaki Gamboa (39) (last seen July 1, 2018, Virginia Beach; reported missing July 2, 2018, car found 7/4/18; she has not been found) – *Lamont Johnson (41) (ex-bf) arrested & charged (7/29/18) & arraigned (7/30/18) with 2nd degree murder & 4 counts of contribute to delinquent/abuse of child. No plea entered. No bond.
Trial was set to begin 6/26/19 with jury selection-continuance granted.
10/7/18 Update: Court documents indicate that Johnson confessed (on 7/29/18) to pushing her down a flight of stairs, strangling her & putting her in a plastic bag & dumping her in Chesapeake. Evidence found on his cell phone & work computer showed that both had been used to search dumpster locations & garbage routes. Police spent more than $50K trying to find Gamboa's body in a Hampton landfill but called off the search in Aug. 3, 2018, saying they'd exhausted all resources. No trial date has been set for Johnson, whose next court appearance won't be until December.
1/15/19 Update: Preliminary from 12/20/18 moved to 4/4/19. 4/4/19: Case certified to a Grand Jury that is scheduled on 4/15. Trial date is tentatively scheduled to start 6/26.
6/26/19 Update: Trial continuance granted. Next Pretrial Motions hearing on 9/9.
