On Friday, Sept. 8, Shenandoah National Park released a*tweet*at 9:44 a.m. stating, “Search in progress. Trails closed: Overall Run below the falls to the boundary, Tuscarora Trail, and Thompson Hollow Trail.”

The missing persons was identified as a 62-year-old man who was reported missing in Warren County.*Shenandoah National Park has been involved in the search since yesterday. The search is primarily focusing on the North district of Thompson Hollow Trail, according to the Shenandoah National Park Service.

UPDATE (3:40 p.m.):*The man has been*identified*as 62-year-old David Harting.*Harting is 6 feet tall and approximately 175 lbs. Harting has gray hair and brown eyes. He was reported missing on Sept. 5 to the Warren County Sheriff's office. The last known*contact with Harting was on Aug. 25.*

Harting*may be driving a black 1999 Dodge Dakota Pickup truck with Virginia tags XMH6959. The photo on the Warren County*Sheriff's*website shows Harting with a full beard, however he may be clean shaven.

UPDATE (5:35 P.M.):*The Warren County Sheriff's Office updated the status of the search for David Harting on*Facebook*at 4:40 p.m.

There is no height or eye color on this UID.. but I thought I would put him up here. It says David could of been clean shaven at the time he went missing in August 25 2017

His truck was found in the southern part of Warren County in a remote location, which aligns with Overall Run Falls.
There is a tremendous amount of forest to the south of that point in the National Park areas. If he wanted to disappear, and appears he is avid outdoorsman, he could vanish for awhile.

Hi, I was wondering if there are any new developments with Mr Harting's case? Was he found? What happened? Did the searchers who were looking for him disappear also? Michelle Mittendorf's case got a huge amount of attention in 2016. There are two other cases that I have documented in this general area since 2008. Both are older men.
