Found Deceased Va - Denise Martin, 22, Virginia Beach, 19 June 2018

I am wondering if the body found was not wearing clothing that could be identified as Denise’s?

I remember seeing "Tattoo of a sun on upper left chest" listed in her missing person's notice. Since a tattoo is a pretty good physical identifier, I'm wondering if the delay has more to do with something going on "behind the scenes?" IMO

I have been wondering the same thing. I am don't know why nothing has been released publicly. Very strange unless they already know who did this or have their suspicions and are getting ALL the evidence they need to do an arrest.

I really think they’re waiting on cause of death. Suicide/homicide before they release info to the public. Just a guess.

That might be enough for them to have told the family privately that they think it's her, but it's not enough to make a positive ID, usually.

I'm guessing about 3 weeks from when the autopsy was done; that's a pretty typical turnaround for an uncomplicated unexpedited DNA test.

There are two things about Denise Martin's disappearance that stick out to me. First there was no signs of a break in. That to me suggest that she may have known her abductor (if she was abducted). Another is the close proximity of the local Virginia Beach Sheriff's office and local prison. Have a look at the picture:

It could also be possible someone was released from prison within the days and weeks prior to her disappearance who may have something to do with her disappearance. There was a similar situation with the Jennifer Kesse, but in her case, the local police was only 1 mile from her residence. I always wondered if someone had been released and committed another crime directly after being released.

Here's the thing though- Denise was reported missing pretty quickly. Her friends seemed to know what was going on with her mentally, but kept that info from the public. They said things about her "hiding," and how someone was, "in touch with her every few hours," before she went missing. It was looking like she voluntarily took off. According to her friends, she didn't take her phone, wallet, id, or credit/debit cards. LE seemed to believe right off the bat that, "no foul play was involved, and she wasn't in danger." All these circumstances would point to suicide if the body found turns out to be hers.

What seems like the investigation has taken a turn is:
The location of the body.
The amount of time it's taken to ID the body.
LE finally doing a search and finding the body fast. (Did they know something we don't?)

I feel like if this is Denise, she most likely took her own life, but I'm not confident enough to rule out foul play yet.

A confused or troubled person going through a mental episode is extremely vulnerable to being harmed by bad people.

Not saying she was, but it seems possible.

I really wish I was more up to speed on this case.
Going to start from the beginning.

Denise's friends have shown an enormous amount of care and concern....and loyalty. If close friends know a lot more about Denise that has been disclosed, I do not blame them in trying to protect her if Denise had serious problems. Yes, many have searched, many have gotten involved, many who do not even know her have become invested. But I think that if this is Denise (which I suspect), and if she did indeed take her life, and those close to her already know....this is a devastating nightmare and tragedy to her loved ones. I cannot blame them for dealing with it in the way they are. At some point there will be a statement from LE and the media.

<modsnip> And not to mention these friends and family members would have a TON of online support and care that could very well help them through this time. Many people care and will of course continue to care and pray and instead of closing it off, open it up and let the love flow.

They probably just need time to cope and deal with everything. They most likely don’t feel like answering any questions to the public yet. They need time to heal and don’t owe the public anything. I think with time they will use her death for the good.

I don't think they "demanded" anything. They asked people to share her information and keep an eye out for her and welcomed anyone who was willing to help search. They have said that if it's her, more information will be released to the media by law enforcement. I don't know who the person is who said all the family and friends already know (she is wrong) and the page should be deleted, but she doesn't speak on behalf of the family and friends. It may be her opinion, but it's not their message.
She says she’s one of the close friends. She shouldn’t have said anything.

I would find it hard to believe that she committed suicide. She advocated for suicide prevention on her facebook account recently. I really do hope she's ok and alive and just took sometime for herself. I just don't see suicide here, especially if she spoke to her boyfriend the night before she disappeared and spoke to her dad the morning of her disappearance. You would think that there would have been some indicators that they would have picked up on. I just find this case very tragic. I hope she is found soon and I hope the body they located is unrelated to this case. Either way, there will be family and friends whose lives will never be the same. My thought and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased person they found. :(

The friend that created the Facebook group just posted that it was Denise’s body. :( No MSM update just yet.

I have other people close to the family thinking she took her own life as well :(
