Billings was last seen walking away from the scene of a car accident that he suffered in Marion, Virginia on February 14, 1997. Donald crashed his car on U.S. 16 near Hungry Mother Grocery. He got out of the car, which belonged to a sister, and told a man at the scene he was all right. He did not appear to be injured, the witness told the sheriff's office. Billings started walking down the road toward Mitchell Valley.

He must have been concussed/in a serious state of shock to have just walked away. The fact it's slap bang in the middle of a state park makes me think that for some reason he may have ended up off the road and collapsed due to hemorrhaging or something of the sort. Is it a well-used, travelled State Park? Furthermore is there any information as to whether certain areas were searched for him?

Cold Case Spotlight

Valentine's Day Disappearance of Donald Billings Remains Unsolved 19 Years Later

For the past 19 years, Janice Billings Havens has not been a big fan of Valentine's Day.

"I don't ever celebrate it, really, not since Donald disappeared," Janice told Dateline. "It would be like celebrating my brother's missing date."

Donald Billings, who has been called Don since childhood, was last seen on Valentine's Day 1997. His disappearance has puzzled police in Marion, Virginia for nearly two decades.

"I've run him through every database and every resource I have access to," Sheriff Schueler told Dateline. "One theory we have ishe had wandered off into the woods nearby, got lost and died from exposure. We've found others who that has happened to. But you would think we would have found him by now. I just want some answers for his family. It's been too long without them."

I feel your thoughts ... what if donnie was kidnapped? or going further .. cross a door to another dimension? I can't imagine what could have happened to him but I don't think he's among us anymore.

<<Billings walked away from the scene of the crash, down the road towards Mitchell Valley. He has never been heard from again. Weather conditions were cold and icy on the day of his disappearance.

It is believed that Billings may have hitched a ride with a truck driver at the Village Truck Stop along Interstate 81 in Atkins, Virginia. Atkins is located between Bristol and Roanoke, Virginia. Few details are available in Billings's case, which remains unsolved.>>

Sounds like Donald may have hit his head in the accident. I can imagine in Virginia, February is cold and icy. He probably was confused and wondered in the woods, suffering from hypothermia. Did tracking dogs search the surrounding area of where the accident took place?
