A child riding on a school bus saw something unusual sitting up against a tree on the ride home from school that March afternoon in 1986.

The child’s parents drove down Wheeler Road in Campbell County and saw it for themselves. Sitting against the tree was the body of 30-year-old Gregory Hayes Yuille. The Lynchburg man had been shot multiple times in the head.

No identification was found on Yuille’s body so investigators identified him through fingerprints.

Witnesses said the last anyone saw of Yuille was when he left to go to his girlfriend’s house. He never arrived.
