After reading that, I can't help but wonder, could he be UVa faculty or staff? Where the first assault happened in Fairfax is just up the street from George Mason University!

Let's not forget security too.I think someone mentioned that once in Morgan's case.

Statement from Hannah Graham's family, sent by UVA:

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Sept. 16, 2014 — Hannah Graham's family issued the following statement today regarding the disappearance of their daughter, a second-year student at the University of Virginia. Hannah has been missing since early Saturdaymorning, and law enforcement officials are actively searching for her. The family asks that the public and news media respect its privacy at this time.

“Since learning of Hannah's disappearance, we have been heartbroken and at the same time heartened by the outpouring of support and help we have received. We remain hopeful that Hannah will be found soon. We urge anyone with any information, however insignificant it may seem, to call a newly dedicated tip line at 434-295-3851 at the Charlottesville Police Department.

“Those of us who know and love Hannah know that she would not disappear without contacting family or friends. She is highly responsible and organized. She embraces life with energy and enthusiasm and has enriched the lives of many. Her empathy is evident in her daily interactions with us and her friends. She loves the University of Virginia, and all summer she was looking forward to the start of the new school year. UVA is her intellectual home, a place that stimulates her thinking on a broad variety of topics. Socially, she has found kinship and passion with her fellow members of the Ski Team.

“We express our sincere gratitude to law enforcement and everyone who is involved in the search for Hannah. We also thank the University for the full attention they are devoting to the situation. The kindness and support of so many – her friends at UVA, particularly her friends on the Ski Team, her friends from high school, our neighbors, and the larger community – mean so much to us at this difficult time.

“Please join us in our fervent wish for Hannah's safe return home. Once again, if you have any information at all, however insignificant it may seem, please call 434-295-3851.”

C-ville may have its very own Brandon Scott Lavergne, unfortunately.

OFF TOPIC BUT KIND OF RELATED: Except for Alexis - she was a pretty, young black female. HOWEVER - I didn't know they ruled it a murder as they don't have a body, nor do they have a confession. I guess they just have evidence pointing to that.. I honestly still don't think RAT murdered her. *ducks*

back to topic: I'll be damned if there isn't a serial predator in C'ville.

Continuing briefly off-topic -- The jury seemed to think the ripped-out hair extensions and nails, and other physical evidence, as well as the changing stories, deception, etc., were enough evidence to convict. For me, just looking at him was enough to convict him of SOMETHING, but I know that's wrong of me.

Part of me is wondering if he was part of a group of offenders, and just happened to be the one that got picked up. The weakest link...

Musings ... it looks to me as though Morgan knew she was in trouble right away. Last seen on the bridge, and then her purse, cell, and umbrella were found in a field very near the bridge. I wonder, was she assaulted in that field, or were her things just thrown out the window there after she was picked up?

And all quite near the location where Hannah has gone missing.

OT but I don't have any doubt about RT killing Alexis...

BBM - Yes, it all sounds like compelling evidence. And there was a DNA match to Alexis, correct? He looked to me to be in his 60's, he has definitely lived a hard life, that one.

There was a mountain of evidence on RAT killing Alexis: profuse amounts of her blood on a T shift stuffed under his couch, her fingernails torn off in his bedroom floor, her cell phone found within throwing distance of his place, him seen on video following her in his car. just no body. but enough blood to presume she was deceased.

Can you clarify what you mean by "first assault"?

And RAT was even willing to strike a deal with her parents and lawyer.I will tell you where her body is ,if I can get a lesser sentence.Alexis parents took the higher road and said no we want justice for Alexis. But yet he proclaims he is innocent at the same time.

Yes, she apparently scratched and clawed at him so much that her fingernail was completely torn off at the base. Chilling... on the other question... I've actually been by the place that the earlier attack happened near Fairfax. (My daughter attends GMU). It's maybe 6 to 8 miles from campus....but he was apparently startled and fled..but there was enough DNA from the attack, to keep a sample that ended up matching the sample found on poor Morgan Harrington. I had never thought of the correlation to university.. but that is very interesing and astute for you to bring that up. Wouldn't have to be faculty... could be sports coach or staff related...but for both attacks to happen so close to two universities in state.... makes one think this could be an individual who worked at GMU prior to 2005 and now works at UVA....or a spouse of an employee.

Sorry, I think things in my head and expect everyone to read my mind. :)

With Morgan Harrington, there was a DNA link between her and a sexual assault/abduction in Fairfax, VA in 2005. The location of the assault was about 3 miles from George Mason University.

What do you make of Morgan's tee shirt being found away from her other belongings, and quite a bit of time after her disappearance? Why on top of the bushes?
