Looks to me like he pulled into the little door area to check his phone, around 00:35 in the video he looks down, as one would at their phone. It could be that he moved to the side since he knew people were behind him and didn't want to block their way. I've done that on the mall many times. Not saying he isn't suspect, just providing a possible alternate reason he might have stopped (starting up again after HG goes by is definitely shady though)

So the guy in the rolled-up pants with what looks like dreadlocks in a ponytail...is not the black guy? So confused...he looks like a young black man to me.

He's A black man. Or possibly woman. But not the guy who was talking to Hannah later, according to CPD.

The university's student council has scheduled a "Bring Hannah Home" candlelight vigil on the Charlottesville campus Thursday night".

The confusion over videos is because different tv networks have EDITED them. I also could not see Dreds at first because I was viewing a video where the tv station had edited him out! After looking for other videos I was able to see him plain as day. It is TV network EDITING that is creating all the confusion. So if you can't see what everyone else is seeing then keep looking for other videos.

You and me both (frustrated that is). I cannot seem to see all these people on the videos that everyone else is seeing. I have yet to see anyone in the foregroud of any of the videos. I only see Hannah and the white older guy and then a group of younger guys. I do not see 2 women or a man with dreadlocks. I still don't understand why in this day and age, we cannot get better, clearer surveillance video? WTH, my smart phone takes better videos and I bet it cost a whole lot less than any surveillance these restaurants have! smh

Different news sources have different length of videos they released. Some start a few seconds earlier than others. That is why you are missing the people in the foreground.

When the video starts and people think dreads guy gave the two women a high five, you can see that he is stopped just outside the shot. He pauses for a few moments. It seems like he was just being courteous and letting the women pass.

I guess it could make sense that the black male the witness saw was ahead of both of them and that is why he is not seen in any of the videos. Perhaps someone she was meeting? Still hoping for new video!

I don't why they are saying that, but that is NOT her reflection at the end of this video. She appears to be walking with the dude in dreads. JMO.

I believe mystery black man was ahead of Hannah. It's not dreads guy. Hannah was walking sooo fast and was ahead of him. He would have needed to run to catch up to her.

I think there could be police misdirection, but I don't blame them for doing that. I'm impressed with how well some of you watch the videos. I didn't see all the things you mentioned (high fiving, dreads circling the mall) until you pointed it out.

Can any current locals here confirm if the area shown in the Sal's video is the little squarish area where Zocalo and Petit Pois are? It looks like that to me, and if so it would be less strange to me to see someone on both sides of the "courtyard" area - those are outdoor dining areas with shops around them in kind of an L shape. I'm just not sure because Sal's is a couple of doors down from there.

The police want to talk to the second guy (arm-around Hannah guy), but say he's not the guy in the video. I'd like to know if there IS video of the guy they are seeking. If those of us here at WS are confused, the general public is also confused.

Based on this video, I am firmly in the camp that Hannah was walking alongside a male, be it dreads guy or another person. For some reason this version of the video seems to be clearer than the others I had been watching. Police need to find this individual. I think they are claiming it was merely a reflection as a means of misdirection and to throw the individual off and make him feel safe while they are closing in. JMO

My theory is that it is the black man described by the witness. Police are using some misdirection with how they are putting out info. We've seen this before and it has been a successful tactic.

It's very clear to me that in the 2nd video Hannah is walking with the black guy from the 1st video, who stops and gives a high five to one of the 2 girls walking at the beginning of the 1st video. But she's also still being followed by creepy white guy. One of those guys is the perp. I hope they get more video today because that'll show if CWG is telling the truth.

They are saying that what many here think is dreads talking to Hannah is only a reflection in the store window and that Hannah later meets a black man. At least that's how I am interpreting what they are saying.

And it wouldn't be the first time a black guy has been used as a cop out.. While I see why the dread guy is in everybody's vision, the white guy gives me the super super creeps..

I'm just kinda thinking and typing as I rewatch the video over and over and over....

If white guy was telling the truth....I think the white guy was walking. He hears the group of boys being obnoxious and making loud, inappropriate comments to Hannah. He pulls over to wait for her to pass and inserts himself between her and the boys. She meets up with unknown black guy who is outside of the camera viewing area.
